Don't worry about a break from running

I had a month off after injuring my knee and discovered tonight I have lost very little of my fitness. I easily did a 30 min run and could have run longer. I was running a bit slower as wanted to protect my knee a bit longer, but still kept a good pace and an acceleration at the end proved to me I am still fit enough for 5k which will be my next goal as I have been missing my park runs! So anyone out there worrying you will lose fitness I am proof you probably won't !! :) :)

Thank you, that's reassuring. I haven't run for a week due to a sore knee & I've got a 10k coming up in November. I'm still building up from 5 to 10k & have been worrying!

I second this, I tend to have big performance jumps after time off as well!

Great going ridingstar. Sorry to hear you've been injured but sounds like you have made a great recovery. :)

That's great news Riding :) I'm sure you're really happy to be back running again but take it easy for a few weeks so you don't end up back on the injury couch, I'm sure you won't let that happen though,

good luck for your next parkrun, I'm sure you don't need any luck you'll do great let us know how you do and how your parkrun went :)

Take care,

Siobhan x

Thank you Siobhan I am being very careful my knee is not quite right but if I run slowly it doesn't hurt ! I may miss this weeks park run as don't want to run faster just yet and I could get swept along a bit at the start and run faster than I intend. Will probably do the following week there is one along Southsea Seafront which is completely flat so I am aiming for that one. I will let you know how I get on and good luck for yours !! :) x
