Woo hoo. I've just done my 2nd run this week (albeit with 2 rest days in between as I needed more recovery!). Found it easier than the first run, perhaps cos 1) i stretched before as well as after. 2) I did about 10 mind warm up instead of 5. Anyway I'm glad it wasn't so bad. Looking forward to the next run ☺

Well done with the progress.

I find now that I do a lot of stretching I get a lot less stiff and sore(dynamic stretches at the beginning, static stretches at the end), so I'd agree with your point i. As for point ii, maybe I should even double-agree. You hear a lot of talking about how it takes time to get into your stride, and I think what's happening is during a run you keep on doing the warming up you missed out on when you started. A long warm-up would be an interesting way to try to beat the "slow start syndrome".

Best thing is you're looking forward to that next run. This is the true secret of this programme. At some point you find yourself enjoying your run, and that can keep you going much better than constant self-control can. If you discover the enjoyment early on, you're well on your way to a happier life. (Given a choice between happy and fit, who would care at all about the fitness aspect? You get something Better than fitness or even health from this programme).

Well done m'dear. 2 days rest is a good idea, much less chance of picking up an injury. Good luck with run 3 :)

Well done!

Good idea to take an extra day if you're sore - there's no hurry and you are doing everything right to avoid too much aching; warm up and stretch well and don't take it too fast.

Great that you are looking forward to it already! Keep it up!

Well done that is great. Also pleased to hear you took 2 days rest. Remember this is not a sprint. Listen to your body and react accordingly and even if you are feeling wonderful, don't be tempted to over do it. The rest days are essential to allow your body time to heal and rest and grow.

Keep running, keep posting and good luck
