Week 8 run 1 .. harder than I thought it would be!

Just completed week 8.. the first 23 mins went well but when Sarah said I had 5 mins to go I didn’t think I’d have enough in me to get to 28! Did it but found it hard.. did anyone else find this?? I think it’s a mental battle really and I’ve felt like this before in past runs then it’s got easier. I’m made up I finished it as 8 weeks ago I struggled with running for 60 seconds and was looking at when it was ending all the time ha ha!!

Yeah it's funny how your mind works, those first 1 minute runs at week 1 felt like they were never going to end but here you are now running for 28 minutes!!😀😀. Most of it is definitely in the mind. Those additional minutes feel like an eternity initially but you've done it and you can do it again. (Once your brain accepts that you're the boss)

That’s a good way of thinking that I’m the boss 🙌

Hi I did your run yesterday and I have to say I had no problem didn't feel any different to the 25 minute runs but I made sure that I didn't race myself, but 5 minutes to go where is that railway arch marker of mine don't panic ha ha

Well done us, you will blitz the next one I'm sure last week and graduation approaching week one a hazy but important memory

Ahh well done you! The last 3 mins of mine are now up an incline ha ha! Getting fitter though and what I thought hard weeks ago is now more comfortable 😊

Well done! That is AMAZING! That’s my next run. Trying to keep positive. I personally find every switch up a hard one, but then once have done it, it really cements in my mind that I can, so helps me push through and the subsequent runs become easier. Like someone else said, you’re the boss!

I had to actually lie down on the cool kitchen tiles...for quite a while...yesterday! 🥵 Plus my hayfever and asthma has been insane! So actually quite pleased it is cooling off for a few days.

Wow well done!! I will be starting Week 8 on Friday and although its only an extra 3 minutes it must make a massive difference! So not long to go until you graduate - thinking of going the extra mile (excuse the pun) and aiming for the 10k?!?!?!

Well done Liz! I Made up my mind that I would aim for 25 minutes and then"see how I felt" and having that "let's see" frame of mind made it so much easier to do the full 28 mins instead of telling myself "Nah - you're not going to be able do this ...". I remember during the run looking at the clock and thinking "ONLY 8 mins left" - who would have thought it when we used to gasp in dismay at 60 seconds!
