I've noticed that one of my "connections" on Garmin (sorry, I can't remember which one, but it's a man!) has about the same cadence as me and is about the same height. Now, I know that women nearly always have longer legs than a man of the same height, so how is he so much faster than me? Longer pace?

Not sure why - but if you look at any race results the first 10 are invariably men... They just run faster I guess (apart from the more obvious ones, there are quite a lot of 'hidden' anatomical differences between male and female...) Probably evolutionary... for what we know women used to do more gathering while the men were hunting - and therefore running away from beasts

Running pace is a combination of cadence and stride length. Stride length is probably more to do with the power/drive that propels us forward than merely the lengths of our legs. I have a high cadence, short stride length - I am lacking strength/power to propel myself forward. My leg/core muscles will propel me forward further and hence more quickly - but my lungs and heart don't like that. I know of a much taller than me thin man who runs slower than me - and I also know a 29YO very short female (who actually looks like she is about 12 years old) , but who runs like the wind!!

No, it's not, you need a better Garmin! Some of them show heart rate and ground contact time, and your height off the ground too! I know what mine is roughly from running to music with beats, I down load them from Rock My Run.

If cadence is the same then yes, it is only stride length that can explain a difference in pace.
I think it is probably Wristy (Nickonarun on Garmin Connect) that you are referring too.
