Big advice:

1/ you need a rest day between runs

2/ you need to stick to the plan. If a four time Olympic gold medalist told me the session was over I’d listen.

No pain no gain? Bad way of thinking... no pain, no torn muscles is a better way.

As for losing the man boobs and belly... staying injury free will let running tone you up... sitting on the couch with an injury will undo all that.

I hope you don't mind me saying but you could be making it difficult to succeed.

The programme relies on duration, and not distance or pace. If you feel able to run further, just make sure it doesn't catch up with you. Obviously, I don't know your past but if you've not run in years, you may be storing up trouble. Also, the programme relies on at least a day's break between each run to give your body time to recover, avoid injury and bank stamina. Rushing the programme won't always work. But, ultimately, each to their own. If it works for you, great. Just saying :)

No pain no gain is a bad philosophy. If you are still feeling energetic then do a different sort of exercise on the rest/repair days and/or go for a walk. The nhs have a strength and flex program you can do along side c25k.

Both programs have been structured for success so probably work best when followed as designed.

Fat loss cannot be targeted and there are no quick fixes.

Have you read the c25k tips and faqs? I recommend readi g if you haven't. Hopefully one of the admin/mentors could attach the link for you.

Good luck.

Great that you’re so enthusiastic! 😀

But dial back a bit. You ran today, so it’s important to observe rest days, especially because you ran further than necessary this morning. The plan is carefully designed the way it is for a reason. Your body requires time to recover from its new activity, and strength and stamina will develop gradually. If you choose not to take rest days, you greatly risk injury.

Enough nagging! You’re obviously loving it, which is fabulous! You wouldn’t want to be sidelined would you? Stick to the programme, they know what they’re doing! 😅👍

if you want to lose the weight you need to keep yourself able to do the exercise in the long-term - which means sticking to the plan rather than risking injury! Honestly one of the extra things the plan taught me and many others is the discipline to follow it.

If you want to do more exercise you'd do really well to find some non-impact work to do - swimming, cycling, all that would be good. And it all helps you run better too.

Then, remember that weight loss comes mostly from diet change - but there, the running and the discipline will help :) There are SO MANY people on here who have done the weightloss thing though, so lots of support!

Finally - I saw on your first post that Oldfloss posted the FAQ. In there is a FAQ about "too slow .... too fast" - and at the end of that are some cautionary tales from people who over did it and got injured.

Good luck! We'll all cheer you on but we'd be irresponsible not to warn you off overdoing it :)

I should add that your repair days (non-running days) are when your muscles get stronger (the micro-tears made when running, get repaired, in that process they get stronger than they had been before - it's magic). You want your muscles to help you burn more calories? You're going to need those non-running days to allow them to repair...

My advice would be listen to advice. So far you are not doing that, based on your post yesterday when lots of people explained why you need a rest day and here you are saying you’re going to do TWO workouts on a day you shouldn’t be doing any and not only that you are running further than you should in each workout. Why are you doing that? Everyone is telling you it’s a mistake and several have gone in to some detail about why it’s a mistake. If you have been running for years and built up loads of stamina you don’t need C25k. If you need the programme at all then follow it properly and stop trying to injure yourself. Sorry to be blunt but you are asking for advice so please listen. There’s no point saying you are doing C25k if you’re just ignoring all the guidance in the programme.

As ArthurJG says Read The Replies To Your Post. It’s no good posting and not listening - or are you just winding us up?

If you’re serious about losing weight and running then get serious and do it right. There’s loads of other exercise that can be done on the rest days - including walking if that’s what you prefer.

That’s the first time in 6 years I’ve ever been so blunt but you really are heading for injury and probably burnout if you carry on Like this and it would be a shame as you will be missing out on great health benefits amongst other things.

And if you are winding us up - good job, well done!

Actually if it's trolling it's not very effective as nobody has really lost the plot - anybody who looked at the thread for an answer to a similar issue (i.e a beginner tempted to overdo things) would only find good, constructive explanations as to why they shouldn't. Trolls usually want to cause disruption and dissension and take threads off topic and there's none of that here. But as for whether it's trolling or a genuinely misguided individual, I'll leave that for the admins.

All these concerned posts honest I'm OK just using Michael Jordan's encouragement to do the jogs. Having his voice/timings and music kicking in and out is very useful. So not following the program religiously but finding it useful.

This forum exists to support those who are following the C25K plan. It is a carefully structured training programme with proven success in getting many unfit people running for the first time.

The advice we offer is not some kind of random thought or mindless dogma. It is based on years of experience, having seen so many, who believed they knew better, coming to grief and in some cases permanently injuring themselves and is offered to help new runners avoid the self same outcomes.

As a mentor, whose role is to guide others safely through the programme, I do not take kindly to those who blithely advocate what I perceive as a rash and dangerous approach and would ask you not to encourage others to follow your example by posting about deviations from the plan. You may well not get injured, if lucky, but others may not be so lucky, so can you please stop posting about your experiences beyond the programmed runs and especially about missing rest days.

Take care. Too much too soon is a common thread, unfortunately.
