I'm a busy single mum and full time shift worker, currently at end of first year of a degree. I suffer with Lupus, which is a struggle at the moment. I need motivation and guideance to lose weight and get fit. After seeing a friends achievement doing c25k, I'm ready to give it a go.

Focused and ready to go for it!
Impressive! Good luck with c25k, I'm sure you'll nail it. Also welcome to the friendly forum, whether your runs go well or you have one of those runs that we all have sometimes that doesn't, let us know how you're getting on as we'll always have a bit of friendly advice to help
Wow you've got a lot on your plate! I hope you enjoy the running, but don't put too much pressure on yourself. Take extra rest days if you need to. Good luck!
You've taken the first step by deciding to give it a go. I can see that you've got a lot on your plate, so well done for fitting running in as well. I'm convinced that over the next 9 weeks you will find that it improves your mood, gets you fit, puts a spring in your step, and generally makes you feel better. It has done for thousands and thousands of us.
Welcome to the forum. I look forward to read about how you're getting on
Hi Loopyjules'
I take my hat off to you.
You're doing a full time job, a degree, you're a busy mum and you're having to cope with that horrid condition Lupus!
If you're managing that lot, you must be pretty motivated already.
Just take it slowly and keep posting.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Today is the first day of my journey. I'll keep you posted. 😊
Hello loopyjules you are certainly busy with all that going on! Well done you!
Motivation? Think you've got plenty of that already!
Pop in and out of the forum here for a friendly source of advice and encouragement!
In the meantime i would ask my C25K friend round for a drink and a chat about how they got on, download the podcast for Week 1, borrow an iPod (mp3 player) and earphones off one of your children (I borrowed grown-out-of trainers from my son too) and then work out when i could squeeze in 30 mins for myself 3 times a week with my full-on schedule, allowing at least a day between runs ... add extra time for a shower and change ...
Then shooop shooop off you go out the door and get started. Laura ( our running guru) will talk you through the rest.
With your lupus you'll have to gauge how much to rest between sessions ... Only you will know what feels OK. That's fine, it's not a competition!
The weight loss? Simple maths? Eat less calories than you use? Choose foods sensibly and healthily and drink loads of plain water? Patience? I find I need patience and stickability!
Good luck and keep us posted!
Hi, I also have lupus. I did C25k 2 years ago before I developed it an found it quite easy. I'm now very unfit after arthritis stopped me running. However now I'm on treatment I'm ready to start again. My biggest worry is that I'll use the lupus as an excuse to give up! However you sound like a determined person so go for it and good luck. It will be worth it for how good you'll feel when you succeed.
It would be easy to give up but I'm not going to let Lupus beat me. I'm so on it. x
