Running in Lanzarote

I will be holidaying on Lanzarote soon, and will be running weeks 7&8 by then.

Hope I can find a route around Costa Tequise. I think the beach resort has a running track, so may just use that.

Running on the beach may be too heavy going.

running on the beach is tough. Last year we went to Saunton sands in Devon for our holiday. I did a 5k on the beach every day which I totally loved, but I found it hard ( at least 2 minutes off 5k time), but it was fabulous seeing the beach every day, we found all sorts including an octopus :) Have a great holiday

Totally agree. I ran on Woolacombe beach naively expecting it's relative flatness to my normal routes would get me a PB :) It was so tiring on the legs but the totally beautiful view more than compensates. Now I look forward to my "slow pootle" beach runs :)

I was in Lanzarote a couple of weeks ago, and we visited Costa Teguise I think (we were based in costa blanca). If I'm right there is a very long coastal path just begging someone to run it. Fully paved all the way and no traffic except a few bikes. There were a couple of hills though. Take a look on google maps to see if I'm right and if so if it's convenient. Running before 8 or after 7 worked for me.

you can also check out mapmyrun for possible routes

The similar path at costa blanca was fabulous and I ran it at least every other day.

Have a great time.

Ooh! That sounds nice. Have a lovely holiday and I'm sure you will find somewhere beautiful to run. Sounds like you already have a recommendation :)

We go to Costa Teguise on the 18th, the coastal path towards Arrecife is great to run, we like early morning runs with the breeze from the sea, heaven, then back to the villa and jump in the pool all before breakfast. There are some exercise machines along the path that you can use for free as well. 😎😎🍷🍷🏃🏼🏃🏼🏃🏼

Plus 1 for the coastal path to Arrecife, watch for the cyclists though but it's lovely, take a pause at the airport to watch he incoming aircraft come in over your head, it's different!

I have just got back from Lanzarote, puerto del carmen and did my wk4 runs along the footpath adjacent to the beach, it was beautiful, breezy and dare I say easy!! Although I slowed it down completely but glad I did it while I was holidaying! Good luck and enjoy your holidays. Oh and I used the free exercise machines along the beach too while we watched the planes coming into the airport :-)
