So last night I did what was supposed to be homework run for W5 (cant believe it!!) R3 - our Saturday coach has tried to encourage us to get to the 20 mins if poss but I only managed 15 mins (I say 'only' - 5 weeks ago this seemed impossible!) but my legs just turned to lead. I was going to go for the 20 mins but just couldn't do it. I walked for a couple of minutes then tried again but legs wouldn't work. Eventually I did manage to do another 5 but does anyone have any tips for reducing leg fatigue?
Knee Trembler...: So last night I did what was... - Couch to 5K
Knee Trembler...
Hmmmm. You going to fast? Slow it right down. Sometimes you get fatigue in your lower legs if you've not eaten enough. I know so cos it happened to me recently on a 10 k which I did on empty.
Stick with it. Bad runs happen, as Laura says, often with no rhyme or reason. Put it behind you and crack on. Go slowly, and steadily
Thanks for the advice - I am doing the right speed because I'm on a treadmill. Like you say maybe just a bad day!
I started out on a treadmill, but almost failed. Someone on here said to slow down and I did and I graduated. I walked at 4.2 and ran at 5.5. Compare these to what you are doing and make sure you aren't going too fast. Honestly it makes a world of difference.
I wanted to run at 6.2 to complete 5k in 30 minutes, but that was just not possible. 2-3 months later I completed a sub-30 5k and was really pleased. Once you are graduated the speed will come.
I read the title........................... sadly not what I thought
Is it your legs or the head gremlins telling you "I think your legs are hurting, have a little rest, you know you want to?".
Interesting, you are doing c25K , WITH a ' Saturday' coach? How does that work? the other 2 runs are ' homework' ?
Hi Aren't I mean putting an interesting title for a mundane subject Got you reading though Anaverageman - a local fitness instructor is being sponsored to run the C25K course each Sat morning for an hour which is free to attend then you do the 2 homework runs on your own. It makes for an interesting contrast and a good motivator!
I run at 7.2kmph on the treadmill which has always been a comfortable speed for me (now on W5) so I think it is head gremlins saying I cant do it. Have avoided running like the plague my whole life so 37 years of abstinence is an old habit to break!
