Here I am chuntling around Parkrun. I may look like I'm about to die, but I've ditched a stone and a half, run three times a week and swim on Fridays, have ditched bread and chocolate and am ALOT happier than I look! AND... (Blush) I have bought my first ever bikini (there will be no selfies of that one).

Congratulations - on the weightless and exercise, AND the bikini You don't look like you're going to die, you look like a "proper runner" - because you are. The most important thing you mention above is that you are happy - it's essential in the mad old world we live in.
It is one of the benefits I wasn't expecting at all - it just goes to show how much we can be defeatist about things we don't realise can can through simple life changes, huh.
I've never ditched bread as I make the stuff, and love it lots, but you can have good bread but not so much of it. I eat choc very occasionally, and then just a bit of the dark stuff, usually in a dessert. I quite like a grating of it on my fruity dessert. It's all about moderation, and if we keep running, swimming, dog walking blah blah then we got it covered.
Parkrun is brill int it! I don't do it as I volunteer on a Saturday morning, but I've done it twice and long to do it again
Must admit, I do let it all hang out a bit at the weekend, but I guess that's kind of the point of all the exercise! I love bread. Chocolate, though... Oddly, I've gone off it, it's too sweet and intense now. Red wine is pretty much the main vice now..
Hey,,well done, I bet your really chuffed wi h yourself, and you should be.. I only joined today and did my first run of the c25k this morning.. I too looked like I was about to die lol but am really glad I did it.. Any tips on how to stay focused while trying to loose weight?
I think the best thing I did was to be really abstemious during the week... No bread, just fruit during the day and then a sensible and normal evening meal. For me, I think carbs are the enemy so once you get in the mindset of avoiding them it's easier. Specially as I let myself have some croissants or crusty bread at the weekend, and a curry! That way you really enjoy the treats and appreciate them. Just try and find the groove that works for you, and stay in it. It's a whole new way of thinking really, don't think of it as a "diet" as such, but rather, your new way of approaching what you put into your system. I think the whole "diet" thing is quite punishing, you need to enjoy things still. Good luck, keep posting on this forum and your new virtual running chums will see you through.
Looking good Allie, well worthy of that bikini. Well done on the weightloss. You don't look like you're about to die, you're looking like a proper runner to me! Gotta love a parkrun! x
You don't look as if you're going to die. In fact I think you look really composed! Well done for your achievements and I love your running top! Lovely photo.
thats a really good photo! i'd be very pleased with that!
I've not been so good lately with the healthy eating and my muffin top is returning! although exercise wise i've been quite good! Sit ups needed for me! But if ( and possibly when!) i EVER get a flat-ish tummy then i might get a bikini too! funnily enough someone at work was on about it yesterday, i reckon i've never worn one since about 1982!!!
Another first for this year is getting flying-phobic hubby on a plane, bless him, so after 20 years of Welsh/Cornish holidays (which were all lovely, but the 13 year old isn't in to buckets and spades anymore) we're off to Cyprus. Might leave the wetsuit and boogie board at home!
