It's practical to be able to run a bit !

Got home a little earlier than usual from work yesterday evening, with the intention of cutting the lawn. Opened the garage door with the remote control, changed into old clothes, took the lawnmower outside, closed the garage door, cut the lawn. When I'd finished, and came to re open the garage door with the remote... the remote battery was dead. So, wallet, keys, identity cards, decent clothes, all locked away in house. Me locked outside wearing old cloths with nothing but a remote control with dead battery !

Only one thing for it, walk to my collegues house ask him to take me to the supermarket and lend me money to buy a new battery. It's 19h00, the supermarket closes at 21h00, I need to walk from my house at ménars, to the bridge at Chaussee Saint Victor, cross the Loire, then walk to Vineuil where my collegue lives. Hopefully he will be there, no way of checking as telephone is in the house too !

I know the path along the river to the bridge well as I run most of the way along it on my weekend run. When I reach the other side of the bridge I find a cycle path with a sign that says Vineuil 2km. I decide to run walk the rest of the way, as time is moving on. I arrive at my colleagues house at 20h30. He is there, he takes me to the supermarket, we replace the battery and he drives me home. The garage door opens and all is well :)

I now have some nice blisters on my heals, but that's ok for two reasons. Firstly, I am no longer locked out of the house, secondly, although I have been suffering with my ankles recently, I managed to run/walk for 90 minutes and my ankles still feel ok :)

Also I have discovered another nice path on the other side of the river.

I am certain that before C25K I would not have arrived in time at my collegues house, and I would have been totally exhausted the next day.

So All's Well that Ends Well :) and another reason to thank Laura :)

A strange way to find out your ankles are better, but a good tale of triumph over adversity! Technology! Pah!
