Yes - here is my advice - YOU WILL BE FINE!!!! Absolutely fine. This plan works as about 35,437 people will tell you and the thing to do is to do exactly what you're doing - respect the plan, be a little bit scared, but go forth and nail each run, one at a time and you will be a graduate before you know it.

Tell yourself you will do it. Go to sleep tonight imagining running for 3 minutes. Once you're brain accepts it, your body will just follow. GOOD LUCK!

For me, remember to breathe (I've a terrible habit of holding my breath) and a nice slow pace. You will surprise yourself.

I strange thing that seems to work for me is to chew gum. Really helps me to remember to breathe.

Guess what? This time next week you will be dreading running for longer too - and wondering why you were so apprehensive about running three minutes a week earlier! In other words, this program is as much about training yourself to believe in your ability to succeed as it is about getting physically fit. Believe in yourself - you can do it. I found it a real help not only to get running but for my all-round self-confidence. Break it up by saying "I'll get to that tree", then "I'll get to that house", etc.. and before you know it the three minutes will be up. :D

I felt exactly the same as you 2 weeks ago and now I am preparing to run 20 minutes tomorrow. Everyone says it because its true - trust the programme, you CAN do it. Good luck

Oh Dawn me too! I can't wait to get out there but am a bit apprehensive too. Suddenly 3 minutes sounds like a LONG time! Do come back on afterwards and let us know how it went!

Trust the program and take it nice and slow. Put simply, if you are out of breath you are going too fast.

All the best and let us know when you've nailed it.

Well done Dawn.

Try to enjoy the next two and remember how you overcame the mental wobbles today the next time a big step up looks daunting.
