Restless & a lesson learned

Laid up with an injury for a week or so.

I'm really restless about getting back out, but I know I have to wait.

I am pretty certain my enthusiasm was my downfall, as I know I did not warm up and stretch correctly before venturing out. Lesson learned.

Did a short walk today, with such speed that snails were passing me.

I was on week 4. But I'm going to repeat week 3 when I'm back on my feet.

Here's to a less troublesome future.

Poor you :( Maybe your sports guru will work some magic tomorrow. Chin up and keep smiling.

Try to be patient. I know it is difficult, but if you do too much too soon you will end up crocked. Try to think that you have the rest of your life to enjoy your running, so skipping a week or so isn't the end of the world.

I'm in the same boat - an ankle sprain/strain thing. I spent a week hobbling around at home itching to get back out running.

Who'd have thought it?

Take it easy when you get back out - its a good idea to go back a step in the programme, and if you feel any pain, stop.

Sorry to hear that. It's not much fun being laid up with an injury (I took a couple of weeks off around week 2/3 with achilles tendonitis) and as others have said you really should rest until the pain has completely gone. On the plus side all the other muscles in your legs will be extra fresh and ready to get back on the with program!

With any luck this will just be your legs getting used to running and after this it'll be a lot smoother (it has been for me apart from the odd niggle and I'm on week 7 now).
