Hey, I've asthma, emphysema and High BP and used that as an excuse not to exercise. But..week 1 was in the bag..got halfway through week 2 and now I'm struggling to get out after work. I work long days and have a teenager at home. I am now starting to talk myself out of going out and I was starting to feel great. I am a size 12-14 so just want to lose a few pounds and feel better about myself. What do you all do for inspiration? I've changed my eating habits so am eating natural yoghurts with fruit and a bit honey as I've such a sweet tooth.
Looking for inspiration!!: Hey, I've asthma... - Couch to 5K
Looking for inspiration!!

Your best bet may be to try run early in the morning. When I first started the programme, I was so worried about someone seeing my uncoordinated staggering that I was out of the house before 6am to run. The best things about early running, (apart from no one seeing you when you're feeling self conscious as a new runner) are 1) Your run doesn't eat into your busy life: you're getting up earlier so you're effectively making new time 2)First thing in the morning it's much cooler and, as summer approaches, that's got to be a good thing. 3) As a fellow asthmatic, there are way fewer traffic fumes around in the early morning to trigger your asthma.
I do hope you find a way to fit c25k into your life. You won't regret it
I also have asthma although I can't relate to the other medical things. But looking purely at the asthma, I tell myself 'If Paula Radcliffe can run marathons I can do this run'

I also had HBP before starting the programme. A year on, my BP is 125/70 and I'm off medication. If you can stick with it, it really can help. (haven't lost any weight due to food indiscipline...)

When I don't want to go I remind myself how good I'll feel in just half an hour. And how cross with myself I would be if I didn't. Works for me!
That's me started back up again and w3 r1 is tonight or maybe tomorrow as I was out running last night so should perhaps have a rest day tonight. So exited to be in it again..plus the weather is fab!!
