After much deliberation and a few slammed doors, i was dragged kicking and screaming to my neighbours car and ferried to the southampton parkrun!
As some of you know, i recently found out that my nextdoor neighbours happen to be multi-marathon runners and they invited me to run my first parkrun with them and their friends today.
I woke up and bottled it. I went straight next door and told them there was no way i could do it, go without me etc etc.. cut a long story short- they wouldnt take no for an answer and i am soo glad they didnt! The pretty much bundled me into the car and off we went.
On arrival i was shocked at the sheer number of runners! Apparently Southampton parkrun is one of the busiest in the country!
I started off really slowly, being taken over by everyone haha, bringing it up the rear as I had initially imagined i would be! Its a little hillier than i am used to so thought it best to take it really slowly, and get used to running with other people rather than worry about timings today.
Well, after about 2.5k i could see that people around me were beginning to become out of breath, starting to slow down, but i felt fine! So i gradually begin to overtake people! When my garmin bleeped at 4k i thought right, thats it.. im sure everyone hated me but i decided to sprint the last km! Im not sure what position i came in yet, but did manage to get a PB and i am sooo happy i went!!!!!

Parkrun is wonderful and you have a great time there, It'll be even better if you can do a flat 5k. But I got a PB too 29:39 a full minute off my previous best and first time outside under 30 minutes
