As I approach my 50th birthday in 2016, I have decided to get moving for the good of my health.

I've been out of the exercise loop since a back injury around 5 years ago and I admit I now use fear of injury as an excuse not to try. I've decided to at least try and C25K seems the best option for me.

So, here goes

Good choice! It's a great thing, and you'll get plenty of encouragement and advice here.

Welcome Kasmcc. Well done in making this decision. This programme will change your life and if you stick with it you won't regret it. As Steve says, you'll get loads of support and advice here and there will be others starting at the same time so you can support each other.

Listen to Laura, stretch after each run

nhs.uk/livewell/c25k/pages/...

take your rest days, repeat runs if you need to and very importantly, run very slowly. The slower you run the better as your body gets used to the motion of running.

Post here if you have any questions or concerns. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and we understand! I will warn you though, running can be addictive and you can enjoy it so much you just want to talk about it, post about it and do it as much as possible!

Lastly, enjoy yourself. It's a great ride!

May the force be with you

Well done on your decision and welcome to C25k. I am 52 and completed it in January (not done any running for years). I have really enjoyed it and I'm sure you will too. Lots of advice and support on here, keep us posted. Good luck X
