Graduate needs to restart!

Hi everyone, I graduated just before Christmas and was keeping it up quite well. Then I got the flu, followed by an ear infection and sinisitis for weeks til I ended up in hospital. I want to restart but my question is where should I restart? Any ideas would be welcome :-)

Ooooh dear that sounds nasty. I had an ear infection for months and it sure feels wierd. You feel like you are under water the whole time

Where to pick up? Well, you're a Graduate aren't you so I would just go for a leisurely jog, perhaps with a bit of music and just enjoy a run and see how you feel.

Wear a hat or bandana over your ears. Let us know how you get on

I agree. Just go out and run, see how it feels and pick it up from there. You may feel a bit week after flu but will soon build up your fitness. Take care and enjoy getting out again.

Thanks ladies. I'm going to run on the treadmill, see what happens. I think I'll give my doctor a call first just to ok it as I'm waiting on a echocardiogram but when they discharged me they didn't say don't do abc but I will double check.

Just see how it feels after 20 min on the tread mill. If it feels tough, consider dropping back to the transition weeks (5?) and take it from there. You'll soon be up and raring to go again.

I was in a similar position and decided to start Cto5K all over again but jump ahead a run or two if I was finding it easy. I've just done two Week 3 runs and plan to start Week 4 tomorrow.I guess it depends whether you feel illness has really knocked your fitness back to square one or not. All I'd say is be kind to our body to start with. I did a restart on a previous occasion , tried to do too much too soon and kept going down with infections. Your immune system doesn't like it when you don't give it time to recover!

The thing with the treadmill is that it doesn't allow you to ignore speed and focus entirely on your own comfort.

My suggestion when you've been that ill is to go for a not especially brisk half hour walk and then see how you feel a couple of days later. If you're feeling OK, then just go for a gentle half hour tops run, slow right, right down if you need to, and be pleased with however long you do.

Sadly I've not been able to heed any suggestions, the doctor said best not to til I have the heart scan. Makes sense I guess but I am devestated :(
