Just an update. Finished week 2 of C25K and still OK. Unfortunately my diet hasn't gone quite as well as I have gained half a pound due to over indulging at the weekend :-( . I volunteered at the local Parkrun and found it inspiring, males and females older than me running the full 5K. Will carry on with the volunteering until I reach the 20 minute mark and will then join in.

With the support of this forum and the friendly folk at the Parkrun, I now feel confident of getting there.

Well done on starting C25k. Good to hear that you've done week 2. Bear in mind that you will gain muscle as you progress through the weeks. It may be that you gain weight but you will be slimmer as you build muscle and lose fat. Parkrun is great, I'm sure you will do well when you give it a try. Keep us posted with your progress.

Thanks Girlyswot, I did eat and drink too much though! :-)

re the added half pound of weight - I think that you will find that this is just food still in your stomach!! My weight can vary by up to 1 Kg ( 2.2 lbs) from one morning to the next. In fact , yesterday morning I saw 72.4Kg on my scales for the very first time in a long time - then went out to lunch with friends , had a few beers - and this morning I was 73.6Kg.

I found it easier to stick to the running program than to a diet!

But don't expect results too soon. Your body is probably very confused at the moment and wondering what the hell is going on!

Happy running.

Well done on completing week 2. Bazza is right, my weight varies up to 2KG at different times of day. I wouldn't worry too much about it at this stage, all work and no play makes Oldgit a dull boy...enjoy your running! Good luck with W3
