Need to Start

I really want to start C25K but keep making excuses the biggest barrier is how you keep track of the time! I know that sounds really really stupid but I just don't know how to set a timer on my phone/watch can anyone advise me please, how do you time yourself a minute at a time?

Download the podcasts and Laura will tell you the time. She'll guide you through the process from the warmup walks to the cool down walks.

Go on start you'll soon be hooked like I am.

Yes, download the podcasts on to your phone or MP3 player. Plug in an earphone or two and Laura, the instructor on the podcasts, will tell you exactly when to run and when to walk. Stop making excuses ! Make friends with Laura, and let us know how you get on. You can do it....you know you want to....

Sue & HenPen give great advice. You have absolutely no reason to worry about timing yourself. The PodCast will do it all for you... assuming that you have a device (phone, MP3 player etc) that can play PodCasts. If you have a smart-phone then you could also use the C25K app (but this is not so accurate at timing the runs).

If you let me know the type of phone/watch you have, I can let you know how to get it into 'Timer' function.

Sorry Lizzy, but you now have no excuses :-)

It is 8 months since you joined, and it is now time to start!!!

Yes, using the podcasts frees you from everything - no thinking about music (except maybe "This is really uplifting" or "I'm damn well not stopping because I do not want to hear this track any more times than strictly necessary") or time. It is surprisingly liberating to just do as you are told!

Uplifting: "Julie, I've had enough of you now, truly..." :-)

You can also do it using music...I have a playlist that reaches 25 minutes just at the end of a certain song and next week I'll regig it to last 28 minutes. I use the app too but after wk9 I'll be timing myself with music x

Hi Lizzy

that's what's so good about C25k. Laura does everything for you. She tells you when to start, stop, slow down, go home, eat. You name it!

Don't put this off. Get downloading the podcasts on an mp3 or phone and just make a start. It'll change your life

It's fun too. PLus you can tell us all about it when you get back.
