Hi! I’m new to this. Rapidly approaching 50 (52 days!!), lost 2 1/2 stone in slimming world but need to lose at least as much again and exercise is probably the key. Trying to convince 11 year old son to join me on this journey (he’s not keen so far lol!). Planning to start in the next few days. Presume if he does join me then I just put phone on speaker so we can both hear it. Any tips I need to know before I start? 😀
Just need to start ...: Hi! I’m new to this... - Couch to 5K

Hi luv to be honest he doesn’t need to be able to hear it as long as one of you can you can match each others pace so when you stop to walk he can, n when you run again he matches you good luck x

Read this post first please.. it is a great post for Newbies... and there is a section on running with offspring, although the programme is aimed at adults)
A healthy eating regime. linked with this, works very well... although there is not a guarantee of weight loss... but folk will tell you eat less and move more works You will feel stronger and fitter with each and every run, so, take this slowly and steadily.
Well done for starting this...you will certainly not regret it... keep posting too
Also it’s a journey once you get the confidence you will do at your own pace. If you can commit and lose 21/2 stone you will have no problem with this and you will love the short term success. Off you go Ellebear and don’t forget to keep checking in with us and let us know how you’re going on. 👍🏻
You sound very similar to me! I also lost a couple of stone before starting and need a couple more, also with slimming world - best plan ever. My son is nearly 10. Personally I liked running alone at the start of the program. My tip would be to go slow and then slow down more! You can do this. I challenge you to do run 1 by Sunday night 😂👍🏽
Challenge accepted, thank you! Will let you know once it’s done 😱😱
Make sure you have the right running shoes for you and take it really slow and steady, my 15 year old wants to pick up the pace but that way you burn to much energy in your first run.
SLOW AND STEADY and that goes for your breathing too, slow, steady and full breaths ok
Thanks for the encouragement everyone w1r1 done!
I have my phone on loud as I run with my 9 year old. We like hearing the halfway bell 😂 He must do double my distance running back and forth! Happy running 🤗👣
Thanks! Did W1R2 on Friday (starting in easter holidays when hubby starting a new job wasn’t such a good plan). Plan to do R3 today. Half way Bell is good lol!!
