Morrisons Jan/Feb free magazine points readers to the nhs c25k program on page 90 under article on "exercise more" good to see they are spreading the word quote "is an excellent running plan for beginners designed to get you off the sofa and running 5km in no time."

Everyone I met over Christmas was subject to me boring the pants off them about how this programme has changed my life for the better. And do you know what? No-one wants to do it. I've tried desperately to persuade my husband (sedentary lifestyle, poor health habits, drinks too much and both parents with heart disease) and my son (lazy teenager glued to computer and PS3) but they're just too flipping lazy! I even offered my son £100 and he still said no! I wonder what it takes to trigger folk into taking that first step. I saw this mentioned on Sky News one morning and just thought I'd give it a go because I hate gyms, hate exercise classes and was skint.

What were your reasons, everyone?

Like you useitorloseit I did not want to join a gym just not my thing plus the expense. Over the years I have had an exercise bike at home, a healthrider (you sit on this and have various exercises where you are lifting hour own body weight using your arms and legs), when my sons moved out I have ridden their bikes around the roads/lanes but find it too dangerous with the traffic, used some of the weights they left behind, but never satisfied. I am not sure how I came across c25k I must have read about it in the sunday papers but it was the best thing I ever did in terms of fitness and finding something I can enjoy and stick with.

Hi useit, how the devil are you?

I was told about C25K by my elderly fathers 'specialist heart nurse'. She was telling me how she had never been a runner , but was now regularly running 5-10k.... I was pretty stressed at the time, never exercised and thought , mmm maybe I could do that! I always hated running at school, but have always admired people I've seen out running... It has seriously changed my life. I feel SO much better about myself; it clears my head. ;-)) happy running all x

ie have been badgering one of our managers at work to do it :D she was the one who 1st told me about lol

Most people I know already run, the morning school run is full of trainers and running trousers but I have never, ever run (wasn't allowed at school...arthritis and in a wheelchair for a year) and I've had a secret wish to run the London marathon since i was a child.

No idea what got me to actually start at the age of 39 and u can't remember how I learnt about c25k, but I'm surprising everyone, not least myself.

I'm secretly planning to run the great north run for arthritis and I'd still LOVE to do the London marathon ;)

Good find, that, EWM! I read in the latest Athletics Weekly magazine today that Morrisons are now the sponsors of the 'Great' series of runs, so it makes sense why running is featured in the magazine.

Use It: snap, I can't get anyone to take up C25K either. No-one is in the slightest bit interested in taking up this grand adventure. I took it up because I wanted to do something positive for my weight and health. I saw three of my very large colleagues getting out of breath doing some light lifting and decided there and then I needed urgently to change things. Found C25K and running and it went from being something for fitness, to a way of life, something I love, which seems to be a common theme here. If only more would give it a go too!

Evening Miles, yes I noticed that Morrisons have now taken over the Great Runs.

I got an e-mail from Bupa thanking me for all my support in 2014 and I thought Eh ? What have I done ? But I watched the Cross Country from Edinburgh last week on the BBC and Morrisons were sponsoring that .

I keep putting the word about C25k but no one has taken it up yet xxx

Every week I post the C25k app 'congratulations you completed the week' picture on Facebook. Sometimes with some comments but most times not. Apart from this I've noticed people glaze over a bit so try to keep most of my enthusiasm to this forum! However so far my sister and one of my brothers have embarked on the programme. Unfortunately my brother didn't get very far but will probably have another crack at it soon. My sister has just started Week 2 and I think she is surprising herself and also enjoying it.

Oh and I forgot - my husband wants to do it too and take both our kids with him! He's waiting for lighter nights though. He was a runner in his youth so that'll be interesting.

Well, hurrah for Morrisons editorial staff!

I started with C25K as my sister and cousins (not my brothers or anyone else) were all running and I vaguely felt a lesser mortal for it. However, I just could not see how to fit it in. Eventually I tried to get going by myself and failed dismally. The, when trying to do miserable and ridiculous written assignments for a return to nursing course I discovered C25K when reading up on obesity which I had decided to use as a means of answering one of the assignments. I had been slack-jawed about the difference in the size of patients since I was last nursing. It was extraordinary. I simply couldn't believe it. How could people get so huge?!! Plus my mother had become very ill and over the past few years had simply lost her ability to move about and I became afraid that I would become like her. The phrase 'Use it or lose it' was very much nagging at me. Remembering C25K I thought that I would give it a go and many months later I graduated and was amazed that I had. Although I didn't need to lose any weight I was delighted at feeling so much better and also firmer and more streamlined!! I don't think anyone becomes interested if you mention C25K unless they're having some sort of crisis be it fitness or either physical or mental health. fellow recovering cancer sufferers or similar are interested but not many other people.

I'm same as you Useit as far as husbands go. Mine used to run, and did a HM, but he's slid into a trough of slobdom. He won't do a thing to help himself and would rather take medication than shift his bum

I got into C25k from a fellow WW member. She told me all about it and how to get the podcasts. She had got to about week 5 but for some reason she quit.

My jog group is now full of new run/walkers
