Please feel free to post how the Quest has been for you and if you like your longest run. I will post the new quest on Monday morning and do the virtual run log. Happy running
1st year Runnervesary Quest - The final. New ... - Couch to 5K
1st year Runnervesary Quest - The final. New quest starting on Monday.
Ups and downs this quest rotten cold got in the way for a while and I have had to restart my HM training plan but I have managed to bounce back now. My longest run was 8km.
Ups and downs here too, still coughing from the lurgy I had back in November, and a return of shin pain, I think due to worn out shoes. Got my new shoes yesterday though, that's a big UP, they are gorgeous! can't believe I'm so excited about running shoes! I'm sure they'll make a difference, if I don't trip over trying to look at them as I go! I'll be away for a few days next week, off to Porto, still haven't decided whether to take my gear or not. It's incredibly hilly, and I'm scared of getting lost if I try and run lol! Certainly I'll get back on track with my 10K plan when I get home if not before.
Longest run 5K
Hey Porto is GORGEOUS! Plus every shopkeeper offers you a glass of port when you walk in. Now that's my kind of place! Super hilly though, you're right. Check out the fabulous Eiffel bridge - I suppose you could run backwards and forwards across that!
I've been before so I know what it's like. Is the Eiffel bridge the really really scary one with the trains going across it? I did think about that, maybe cross that one and come back over another...I just know my sense of direction is pants...
Yes, though I think the trains have stopped going on it now. I went there about 20 years ago when I first had MS but didn't know it, and spent half my time sitting on pavements as my legs were not as they should have been (or it could have been the fact that I said yes to any glass of port proffered my way!). I couldn't understand why I just couldn't cope like my husband could. There may be no cure, but it's so much better knowing why you are rubbish when you are rubbish! Anyway, I'm in a good phase at the moment, and running is defo helping. Enjoy Porto - I'm rather jealous!
The trains were still there last time I went, about 3 years ago. BaldyBoy was absolutely terrified and had to be revived with beer afterwards...I'm quite scared of height too, but I distracted myself by taking lots of photos. We're really going for the piri piri chicken in a particular restaurant, I'll have some for you!
I need the full 7 days to complete my final quest. Hoping to get out there for another run later today and don't know how far I'll get. 5.3k is my longest run this Quest.
I am pretty pleased with the way this Quest has gone, especially at a challenging time of year. I think there's probably only one week where I fell short of 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity. I had a few problems with the yoga I do as the strength element - tried adding some things in which disagreed with me (not at the time but later) and I need to prioritise fitting it in. I've done better with fitting in meditation/relaxation sessions, especially by taking opportunities as they come - for example yesterday I went for a swim when school lessons were on (surprisingly peaceful in the pool) and the children were all putting their shoes on when I was ready to do the same... so instead I retreated back into my cubicle, set the timer on my phone and meditated.
I feel particularly good about all this achievement just now as there's been a lot in the news this week about people like me all being 'afraid of exercise': I can exercise my middle finger to that ignorant idea! And no, it isn't curing me, any more than Steve Redgrave's diabetes could be cured with all his exercise.
I've enjoyed the quest and ready for the next one. 8 k was my longest run as I'm training for a 10 k race. Mixing it up with 3 k's and 5's at the moment. It's going well!
I hardly dare say that. Oooh
I too enjoyed the quest, even though I only joined a few weeks ago. My longest quest-run was a beautiful 10-miler along the Pocklington Canal, with everything bathed in a gorgeous yellow sunshine from the late afternoon sun.
My longest run for this quest has been 5k ( so much for my plan to up my distance) No chance of running further at the moment - my hips are killing me (it's so cold, I don't think my joints ever warm up properly before I start running) Planning to get to 10k AND run a 10k race this year but it'll have to wait until it warms up a bit Congratulations to all you wonderful questers who've achieved your goals for this quest.
Quest has, in the majority, gone well for me. A 5 mile PB and my longest run to date (7.5 miles) repeated three times. I've managed to stick to running four times a week (like many others on here I am following a MyAsics plan); I've felt like dropping back to three times a week several times but have persevered. I've had more petulant child moments than I would have liked with bad runs but I'm still here to tell the tale!
Another one with an up and down quest. I had 2 weeks away over Christmas and running just didn't work out. Then came back with a horrid cold, so although I've managed my 3 runs a week, they've been short. So my longest run has been 5k, rather than the planned 10k. Ho hum. Planning for 10k in the next quest !
Enjoyed the quest; especially as I achieved my goal, which was a fabby, soggy 8.5k last Sunday. Thanks RFC
I'm currently a northerly frustrated non-runner, having a mini-break...not away on a beach, but just not able to get out on a run this week (Sunday's was my last) ...I've been managing - loving - 3 a week up to now, but the weather has been soooo bad here, this week, my usual routes are flooded, icy, snowy, gale-force-windy, tree-strewn or all! Cheesed off! At least I still have the urge though...am fidgeting much!!
Longest run - 8.5k
Have a good weekend, all.
Started well ended badly. Longest run 8k (extremely slowly) and was going great until just after Christmas. Nothing this week at all and the walks don't count. Must try harder. No, scrub that. Must JFDI.
Hi RFC , my quest was to increase my distance which I have ! I was hoping to do 8.5k but only managed 7.5k so far... (Hoping to smash it on Sunday haha).
Only getting in 2 proper runs and a shorter 3rd each week really- not enough daylight hours!!
Longest run 7.5k
Thanks again RFC x
I have not done very well this quest. Had a cold, then Xmas and New Year and visiting friends/rellies where I could not run. Finally thought I could get back on track this past week and now the icy days are stopping me! I'm scared of slipping and hurting myself.
Longest run was 4.6k
Hello. Without this quest , the last two weeks would have seen me slobbish out doing no running at all. I haven't been out as much as I would have liked to but am planning a nice long run on Sunday to orientate myself in my new location. Thank you again RFC for running these. My longest distance over the quest was 8k done a few weeks ago. I'm looking forward to starting next week's quest from my new home.
RFC: I will have limited internet connection next week, could I ask to sign up early for the next quest please? Goal is just to get to know the best running routes at home and at work.
Hi Rfc and all. Well, at the start of this Quest I had two goals: get back up to 5k and lose enough weight to get down to the overweight BMI category, which at the time was 3lbs. I didn't achieve the first goal. I was RunStreaking until New Year's Day, which was an achievement, even though I wouldn't ever do it again , and then I bought new shoes, which despite gait analysis haven't been right for me so I will take them back and swap them. I'm pleased to report, though, that I've smashed the second goal by an extra 2lbs so am in the Overweight category
Longest run this Quest has been 4.7km - unless I manage a bit more tomorrow! As always, I have enjoyed the Quest because it gives me mini-goals and something to think about in a 6-week period. Thanks, as always, for organising us
This quest has been great. Really motivated me at an otherwise "couchy" time of year.
I achieved all of my goals, apart from getting into a regular routine with my pilates. Only did one session in the 6 weeks (must do better next quest). But did another Parkrun, got a PB and got my distance up to 9K which I'm delighted with. I know I should have made it 10K but didn't think with Christmas and everything I'd manage to get out that often.
In this last week I've done 2 runs so far (both 5.3k) but am going for my long one tomorrw as that's the last day for me. I'm aiming for a 9K again or if I'm feeling really good, 10K!! Yikes!
I love these quests RFC as the goals seem scarier when you see them written down!
My longest run was 9K.
My longest run this quest was nearly 6k, but I am now finished until spring. See my post about it on
healthunlocked.com/couchto5......
Happy running and see you in the spring!
I've actually managed both goals this quest Yea! Had 5 k race last sat which I would def sign up for next year as the thought of lugging extra weight up that hill stopped me eating rubbish and putting on the usual 7 lbs + over Christmas. I was far from perfect just more aware. Also have managed 3 runs a week cos going out with jog scotland group so couldn't use weather as excuse as knew we were all meeting up. Yesterday was my longest run EVER EVER - 8.8 miles. Really felt that last mile but felt fantastic when realised how far we had run. Never thought I had it in me.
Looking forward to seeing what you are going to call the next quest RFC Thanks again for keeping us all focused.
Apologies for posting this so late. Just two runs last week,a 7K and a 5.5K. I have managed to shift 2 kilos ,so am back to my pre - Christmas / November weight...so happy with that .
This quest definitely helped to push me out side to run,as Irishprincess so aptly put it,at this " couchy " time of year .
My longest run was 7K .
Not too bad for me.
A couple of weeks with only 2 runs, just due to life getting in the way.
Longest run 10k, which I'm happy with as a distance for now.
