Hi all,

Well I have just come back from W5R2 and what a strange one! Didn't start out so well because even before getting ready I had psyched myself out after finding the first run really tough, especially as it was the first time I took my dog along which was interesting! Anyway, then I started getting a migraine and period cramps, so needless to say I wasn't in a very good mood!

However, I took my pills and started getting ready when I twisted my ankle walking to where I keep the medical tape for my blister which wasn't so good. Then I couldn't find the tape and remembered hubby saying he needed to borrow it and didn't put it back. So sellotape it was!

Turns out though, that sellotape works very effectively on blisters :-)

And I had a lovely run which helped my migraine and got lots of smiles from passers by which made me feel infinitely better!

Needless to say, I'm much more optimistic about R3 now, thank goodness! :-P

Happy running folks! Xxx

Despite all the obstacles it sounds like a good run. And good tip about the sellotape!

Well done but sorry you had such a rubbish start! Apparently duct tape is good for blisters too. I learnt that on Facebook so if course it must be *cough* true!

I'm still hoping for R2 tomorrow although I am languishing on my injury throne today after I managed to jar something in my left lower back / hip area while performing the hugely strenuous task of walking from the sofa to the kettle yesterday lunchtime. It's been loads better today though so the game could still be on.

I love all the smiles from passers-by. Most of them do, and I get a nice cheery wave from the guy who cleans the loos in the park as he usually arrives just as I'm getting my tomato face on after my first lap of the lake, lol!

Good luck for run three (although I'm sure you won't need it!!) x

Ouch! That sounds sore, I hope you feel better soon. Don't push it before you feel ready, you've only got the one body :-) it is so annoying how we all injure ourselves doing simple things!

If your back/hip is still sore, you could try some strengthening stretches for it? Hopefully you don't need them though! Xxx

Well done you. Sounds like a bit of a bad start but you did it. Fabulous.

I have suffered very badly with migraines for a few years....I realised yesterday I've not had one since I started running. Not sure if it's coincidence or not but any day without a migraine is a bonus. Good luck for Run 3. Congratulations

Thank you Barbara! Migraines really are awful things. I wonder whether the running helps with tension headaches which can start a migraine.

Am hoping so. We shall have to monitor and see. I should make a note of when my last one was. Take care xx

Oh what a horrid start :( Glad it all went well in the end though. Well deserved if you ask me! And in the words of Wallace (and Grommit) All's well that ends well. Sounds like you had a lovely run. Good luck with R3, it gives you such a buzz :D

Thanks for the advice :-) I don't think I'd be able to do anything except go slowly! :-P

Fab stuff B2 , I always found the Run 2 of each week a bit meh , to be honest . Runs 1 and 3 are the beginning and the end and very exciting but Run 2 is a strange one :-)

You did it ! , its done and dusted, another one chalked off and all mileage on the legs . Keep going , youre doing great you really are !

Enjoy it :-) xxx

in reply to poppypug

Thank you :-) I am enjoying it, loving the feeling of my body changing and becoming stronger. Running outside is giving me such a confidence boost :-) xxx
