Week 5 Run 3 this evening... and i've got this thing in my head about running solidly for 20 mins! I know... well i think... i can manage it leg/breathing wise... but think i'll just get bored. I run on the treadmill in the gym as dont feel safe/comfy running outside in the dark.
Any tips or advice for getting through a whole 20 mins please

I listen to music and change the beat every once in a while so I when run to the beat i don't get bored. I also like to count, don't know why, think it helps with my breathing. :0
I don't know if you have any way of achieving this but I watch episodes of a tv show while I'm running - I download them to my kindle and balance it on the treadmill then run with headphones in. I actually have a show that I only let myself watch when I'm at the gym so if I want to see the next episode I have to work out! I know it's not quite as good as having the great outdoors be your motivation but it works for me. If you don't have a tablet maybe there's a tv at the gym or something? As suel18 said counting helps for me too and mentally breaking the run down into blocks that I think are manageable - maybe 5 minutes. Congratulations for getting this far and good luck with the rest!
music... Look for songs you really love. Plea ty of beats and motivation. I listen to it so I don't hear myself breathing! It's such a shame your not running outside.. What I did was think about it as distance. Thinking about it in five min blocks just seemed too much for me although it works for many. So I knew where my half way point was which made it much easier
OMG! Just did it!!! On treadmill now doing my warm down... Yay so chuffed, thank you all so much for the hints and tips... Couldn't have done it without you.
