Week 8 completed

I have just come back from my last run of week 8 and then an extended walk to get some more calories burned.

I am a little dejected as I recorded my distance for just the run, something I've not done before and I managed to do only 1.97km in 28 minutes.

What should I do as I am meant to be doing a ParkRun the weekend after next?

Just relax and keep going with the program. Not all measuring devices are perfect. If you were running as per the program then the timing will take care of itself. You can still do the parkrun. They are meant to be fun and not a race. I had no idea what distances I did when I did the program. I think I'm glad I didn't know cause that was one less thing to fret about.

Thank you so much for the kind comment. My lovely running friend has said he will walk the couse with me on Wednesday to see what I think.

I concur with downnotup.

Please do not get hung up about distance. You are doing great. Keep it up and the distance will come.

Don't worry about distance, that will come. Parkrun is great, in my experience, and people were very supportive when I started. Good idea to have a walk of the course beforehand. Would your friend do the parkrun with you too, you can run/walk it if you want to. Go and enjoy yourself! x :-D

Thanks everyone. Yes my friend is already going to walk it while I run. His stride is very long so we will probably work well! I know I will have support. Also another friend may be there too.

Thinking about it I went a different way along the tow path today and the surface isn't as flat that way so that may have had made a difference to my distance.

Parkrun will be good for for you. The other runners will pull you round
