Week 7r3

Not a great day today really struggled at 20 minutes and had such sore shoulders. Felt really lethargic when I'd finished and I'm usually hyper for the rest of the day.

Maybe I shouldn't have had that glass of wine last night. Do you think it makes a difference?

Definitely! I have partaken of a few glasses this week, and boy could I feel it yesterday. I just had no oomph! I am much better when I steer clear of the booze.

Thought so oh well at least that's the healthy option

And you can replace the wine calories with chocolate. It's a win win!!!

One thing that might also have an impact is if your sore shoulders were due to tensing them up during the run. When I am pushing myself I sometimes tense up, I notice my shoulders end up close to my ears...and I get very tired. If you think this might be an issue for you too then maybe try to consciously loosen up while you are running. Just let everything go loose. Hunch your shoulders up as far as they will go then just let them drop, shake out your arms and hands too. Personally I don't really notice the impact of one glass of wine the night before, half a bottle and it definitely has an effect...

Thsnks I'll try that. And it was a LARGE glass.

Red wine makes me feel yuk the next day running but not white white strangely. It does sound as if you are tensing your arms/hands and that is causing your sore shoulders. I think Laura tells us to imagine holding a crisp in each hand and that prevents too much tension!

Thanks Irishprincess I'll try that. I do think I'm concentrating so hard and that's why.

Low fat crisps and white wine at the ready x

I don't drink but love my chocolate so feel better now reading this!!

I can't imagine ever running for 20 mins. At the moment I've just finished week 3 so a long way to go. My shoulders were killing me the first few runs and now I do as people have recommended and they're not nearly so sore

Just follow the plan and you'll get there. I couldn't run 90 seconds 6 weeks ago! I'll do as advised and good luck.
