Did week 3run 2.Went as expected. But what does everyone wear on the bottom half in the rain?I would welcome some ideas.I need to add that I am a woman of a certain age (senior moments becoming more frequent) and sizable at that.I would like to continue doing my joggette outside but need to think about cold and rain.I now have a beanie hat ( with go faster stripe)running gloves(daughter bought for me) and a decent waterproof. So what about bottoms? All suggestions(within reason lol)welcomed!!!

I no longer change what I wear according to the weather... well I did go wild when it was very hot this summer and bought running capris and wore short sleeved cotton t shirts instead of long sleeves and long cotton leggings. Mostly it is a matter of how many buffs I wear and where I put them on my body (hands, neck, head) and for how far into a run. Rain, snow and minus 10... all the same.

It's very different to my thinking for walking in the country! I did run a lot of C25K in a strange variety of garb - starting out in normal clothes, cotton trousers, waterproof jacket, my usual backpack, walking boots, I ran on little woodland paths wearing a long knitted skirt... and I did wear a hoody which I would whip off and stuff into a lightweight backpack (an Onyaback) if I got too hot (frantically running on the spot if necessary whilst getting out of it)

If I were to be doing a run which involved getting the bus home or standing about for a long time at the end I might reconsider.

I don't think I will try a skirt lol! I know what you mean tho...you have to be comfortable.

Running leggings (got them in tk maxx - lots if styles and sizes and cheaper too). And maybe a long loose top if I'm feeling paranoid about my bottom being on show!

Think I will give them a go......My waterproof will cover the wobbly bits lol!

And also, I always try to remind myself that if people don't like it, they can look away. Though using this as an excuse to run in just my crop top and leggings whilst blowing my snotty nose on my T shirt *may* be pushing it a bit far. Think I scared some ladies on horses on Sunday with my uncouthness!

Hehe! Don't think the world is ready for me in a crop top(or me for that matter). But you are right...they don't have to look lol!

Haha, you wait til you start running 2 miles of continuous uphill at the start of a 5 mile run - the issue was not what the world could tolerate, but stopping my blood from actually boiling!!!!

Cropped running tights in summer and milder autumn days, long running tights on cold or wet days are all I've ever used. The world isn't ready for me in shorts in all my glory. For my sins I still prefer cotton tops to performance fabric and have a couple of thin long sleeved tops from Asda which are now too big so I need to replace. I hate waterproofs the crackling drives me crazy. I tend to take the hit on getting my hoody wet instead and warm shower when I get back. Well done with the programme :-)

Thanks for the info.Have decided to buy some tights.I've been using trackie bottoms up to now...but when they get wet it's not a good experience!

I get too hot quite easily so in winter I wear short sleeves and light running trousers, and the rest of the year capris and sleeveless top. I guess it depends on your metabolism. I have gone running in my winter garb when there was snow on the ground and been fine. I might be chilly at first but it doesn't take me long to warm up. Probably means there's something wrong with me if I overheat so easily but oh well!

I would never run in a hoody or rain jacket, I'd be far to warm. Though I am planning a couple of runs in Munich in the next couple of months so may need to reconsider what I wear as it will be chillier there!

I got caught in a real rainstorm today, it poured down for almost the entire 45 mins i was out then stopped as I got home. I have some capri style jogging bottoms my sister in law gave me from Australia. I find they are great in the rain as you don't get that horrible wet flapping round the ankles of normal trousers. I haven't gone for running tights yet, my aim has been to spend nothing on getting fit so I just wear a sleeveless top I already had, and a thin fleece to start out with which I can wrap round my waist as soon as I get too hot. Happens after about 1k almost without fail, no matter what the weather. I sometimes feel quite smug seeing walkers in gloves hats thick coats etc when I'm perfectly warm in my running gear. It's really nice to think we are getting our vitamin D during the running times as well.

It's the wet flappiness that is not a pleasant experience!

I'm having the same dilemma as you. At the moment I'm wearing some loose-ish jersey trousers, a bit wider than yoga pants and they annoy me with the way they flap around my ankles whether wet or dry. I'm thinking its time to suck it up and buy some running tights even though I'm not convinced the world is ready for that particular vision of me just yet!
