Well never expected in a million years back in July that I would be running a Parkrun in October..... In fact I had never even heard of Parkrun!!
I started my running journey at the end of July after losing some weight on the 5 2 diet and reading about C25k on their Facebook group. I started the C25k app and my hubby laughed and said it isn't last... You r mad!! Luckily it was thrummed hols for me and I could dedicate mit time to the programme every other day and I stayed dedicated! I quickly realised that ai loved the buzz of it. I finished the programme and have maintained three runs a week even doing some 7 k runs. THEN yesterday I took that step of going to a Park run! I did the Barnsley Parkrun which is very hilly and hard work but thanks to C25k I did it in 32.03mins and loved it. I didn't stop at all! I loved the feeling of running with others and the clap at the end. I now have a time to compete against and will aim to do a Parkrun each month as a check in to my progress.
It was an amazing experience with everyone so friendly and a mix of very experienced (and fast runners) and newbies enjoying getting fit. It is a fabulous feeling seeing your results in line later in the day. I was 147th out of 173 which isn't so bad for a first timer.
