Odours.....stinky trainer advice!!!

I run along a bridleway frequented by many dog walkers, myself included and have noticed my trainers stink of dog pee as a result - any suggestions as to how to rid this awful stench???

I placed cotton wool (I used the large sheet type) which I doused in bi carb. I left over night to find my trainers No longer smelled do see why it can't work with dog pee.

Stick them in the washing machine. I would put some towels or something in there with them or it'll be the loudest wash you ever do!

I would very much recommend you do not ever put proper running shoes in a washing machine. You will ruin them. If they need washing, bucket of cold water, scrubbing brush and hand wash soap.

I agree with you Rignold. Those kind of shoes are conditioned; if you machine wash them, this conditioner will go in the wash. Bicarb or vinegar are good to take the smell off them. Don't expose shoes to an intense heat in front of the fire or on top of a radiator. let them dry naturally.

Yuk! Never noticed that, but do notice LOTS of dog poo which is tricky at this time of year when the bracken is matching dog-poo brown.

Try Wee-off? Think in the pet section of supermarkets. Not sure it smells much better than dog pee though!

It worked a treat I was generous and then gave the trainers a shake and left no smell. Please let me know if it works for you too

If the bicarb doesn't work, try filling your shoes with cat litter (clean obviously ) and leaving then overnight. That might work. Good luck.

Well I tried the bicarbonate soaked cotton wool and it's worked!!!! Drying out nicely and will be hitting the bridle ways and paths again tomorrow when dried out - thanks all!!
