Obligatory new trainer post

So....

I went to Decathlon today with a friend who also runs. I REALLY needed new trainers as I had no road shoes, and no trail shoes suitable for hard packed trail.

*scuffs toe*

I came away with 2 pairs. Both off the Sale racks.

A pair of Kalenji (so Decathlon’s own brand) trail shoes for £19.99 - they won’t stay that pink for long!

And a pair of men’s ASIC Gel Surveyor 5 for £49.99

The drop on each of them is 10mm, which is higher than I generally like, but if I end up wearing the Kalenji for dog walking and the ASIC’s for walking round town? That will be fine by me.

I also bought running tights to replace the pair of mine that have a hole in the knee. I wasn’t going to bother, but that style is apparently now discontinued, and I don’t know what they’re going to be replaced with.

Double shoe porn!

Unbelievable prices at decathlon... Nike need to see this 😂

Was it the hole in the knee bit that’s discontinued? Judging by the local high street they’re bang on trend.

I’d like to posit that Nike are produced more ‘ethically’ but-!

Ha! The hole in the knee look will never be discontinued while I am still running 👍

Can't wait to get a new pair of running shoes one day.... but I have to go to Lisbon (3 hours from me) to get gait analysis before I do the big buy! Meanwhile my friend just gave me a pair of hardly used Nikes which will certainly help in the interim.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

That is a long journey. Hope the Nikes suit you 🤞

What do you mean by 10mm drop?

Maddee_6333 profile image
Maddee_6333Graduate in reply toMilajayne

It’s the difference between the height of the sole at the heel compared to the height of the sole at the toe end of the shoe, INSIDE the shoe.

So if you were wearing flip-flops, they’d have 0 drop.

And if you were wearing a pair of 3” heels they’d be 70mm drop.
