but Aldi will have a sale of their running gear on Thursday, and I'm looking to get myself some graduation prezzies!

Has anyone used their kit? I'm particularly after some running trousers and top layer stuff suitable for cold and miserable winter mornings. I've got a (dirt cheap) Dare 2 B lightweight top that's hopeless, as I get wetter on the inside than I ever have done on the outside! I'll stick with my lovely shoes, but are running sock worth going for?

Ta, all!

I bought a load of stuff from LIDl but I believe it is all the same stuff. I get on great with the running shoes (though I don't do a lot of distance) their trousers, jacket, tops etc are great value. I am hoping to get there early on Thursday!

Thanks loubee. I was thinking of going for a run on Thursday morning. I may go shopping instead!

Most of my clothing kit came from Aldi and it is all fine. I bought some reflective strips with little LED lights for foggy or dark running. Also the socks are good. I got a light weight over jacket which I found particularly useful to put on at the end of my run so I didn't get the cold shivers. (Used to find it took me all day to warm up again)

I would certainly say go and look. I saved a lot.

Thanks, Beek. That's good to know! I like the idea of the LED lights, as they would be useful for cycling as well.

I got a set of the lights a couple of weeks ago. Look good, but haven't been out on the road since!

Their socks are lovely ! I got a pair of their ladies black/pink running ones and there were great. I wore them to death as I didn't have any others.

I'd recommend their day-glo yellow long-sleeved running top. I got their bright yellow running fleece (don't wear it as it's too hot) and their waterproof running jacket which annoys me as there is no pocket for my walkman, so I don't use that either unless I leave my walkman at home. These are glow in the dark jobs, so just the job for the darker days ahead of us

I've got the led reflective strips as well and they are great (I originally bought them for cycling) I've had them 3 years now and they still work and I haven't even changed the batteries even though I've used them a lot.

I got two pairs of running socks from somewhere (I forget where) and found that they are exactly as good as my normal cotton socks. So count me in the not-buying-fancy-running-socks-anymore group :)

Just goes to show we are all different, I bought the running socks last year and love them. I also have the long sleeved yellow neon top - it has thumb holes in it so good when it gets nippy as hands get a bit of protection. I also have their long running trousers and a bright pink and black thicker top with a 4 to 6 inch zip at the front neck. Happy with all of them. I think you have to watch the sizing though and maybe go up a size. I am a 14 and took a large in everything and they are not big on me.

I've just seen this and thought of you ...

Not exactly a comprehensive review but gives a good indication of what to expect anyway.

The Aldi neck thing is not a Buff - different fabric and different shape. They're a snood - a thick-ish, brushed fleecey thing and would be far too warm for some of us, for running. They may suit some of you, but don't quite have the versatily of a thin, stretchy, longer Buff. Some sports shop sell headwear that is more like the original buff, but cheaper.

That's not too abysmal :)

I saw compression tops and bottoms (ooh er Missus!) on their home page..about a tenner I think.

Aldi shopping trip duly completed. Got talking to a couple of guys whilst rummaging, all of whom had good words to say for the kit. I'm now the proud owner of a set of compression base layer undergarment things, a pair of running socks, a pair of running trousers, a running hoodie and a lycra hat! Oh, and a set of gel inserts for my shoes, but I'm not convinced I'll use them.

I'm intending to try them out in anger on Saturday at the MK parkrun.
