First parkrun

So I bit the bullet and went for my very first parkrun today. Thank you to henpen90 for letting us know it was the 10th anniversary and to Belindauk who's first day parkrun post I reread to give me the confidence to do it!

I didn't leave myself much time to park the car and peg it over the park to the start, so at least I was warmed up! I started off with a good pace but slowed down after the 2nd k as was quite puffed.

There were allsorts running and walking, some with doggy running buddies, some with buggies (and singing lullabies too, impressive!).

I haven't got my time yet, don't think it will be a PB or anything, but I did it, it was fun and I will do it again!

I can definitely recommend it to others! I didn't once feel uncomfortable and everyone was friendly. I don't know why I didn't do it sooner.

"Everyone was friendly" - That's Park Running for you.

Park Run is the 2nd best initiative for runners (after C25K). I recommend it to everyone. If you've just started C25K, or are part-way through, please give consideration to joining your local Park Run once you've graduated. As the nights draw in, I think it is good to have a regular, free 9am Saturday run in your schedule.

Park Run is here:

And nice to tie the two initiatives together as I have my club as c25k!

So glad you enjoyed it ! Well done for taking the plunge, now you've got something to aim for for next week ! Keeps me motivated anyway as I'm not yet ready to move on up to 10k.

Oh well done! Your first experience sounds fab! I haven't done one yet but definitely going to in November. Every weekend in October is booked socially!

Me too! Went to Harrogate with my son - he encouraged me round the final lap after he had finished!

I did enjoy it, yes, although I started too fast for me, so will try to set a pace for next time, maybe in two weeks. So many fast runners! But everyone was very friendly and encouraging!

Awwww well done you.... I was so scared on my first parkrun I felt sick and very nearly turned to go home. Thankfully everyone on here gave me the encouragement I so needed. ;-)

Here's to the first of many more of parkruns for you to come ;-)

Once again well done ;-)

Well done. I did my second one today in pouring rain and I had to walk a couple of times, but I really enjoyed it. Even managed a bit of a conversation, never thought I'd manage that and running together! So glad you gave it a go. :)
