Back from the Summer

Got back into the UK a couple of weeks ago and the good news is that I’ve been keeping up with the running whilst out in Spain and the big news that I managed to finally crack my 10k out there, but the heat just killed me off from going any further than an hour, even at 5am it was still very very warm.

And I’ve been looking forward to getting back out running since now I’m back home & was out this morning at 5am but what a difference 15degrees makes it's not exactly shorts and vest weather any more, it was only 3degrees out there!!

After thawing out ! I decided that if I’m going to be serious about running through the winter I need the proper gear. Ideally I want to get upto 15k before Christmas, or atleast 90 minutes. which is going to mean cold weather running.

So I’ve just hotfooted it back from the running shop with an armful of goodies including this fairly decent outer shell top plus proper base layers, although I held off on getting the fully gloves and hat just yet, it is only October afterall.

So other than gear what other tips do you think I need for winter running?

of course, well I was committed all summer so we'll see how long I last when it gets icy!

thanks, I wanted something I could be seen in but yellow just looks like hi-viz-vests we wear at work so the only other was orange or pink!! and I don't do pink!

Well you'll definitely be seen in that! If you're going out at 5am through the winter, could I suggest a front and back light?! Not being used to Spanish heat, I'm still finding it pretty warm here. I did migrate to a long sleeved top a couple of weeks ago, but I still sweat up nicely! Lots of people on here love a Buff. Seriously!

Aldi had flourescent, blinking LED arm/ankle bands last week, probably in the cycling range- set of 4 £2.99 I think

Then you might need a string of fairy lights!

Plus a 15k extension lead to keep it plugged in too.
