So today I threw out my very first pair of running shoes which have just about fallen to pieces. Why does it feel like a bereavement??
Old shoes.: So today I threw out my very first... - Couch to 5K
Old shoes.
I am growing very attached to my new(ish) Nike's, I'll probably feel the same because they are my first real grown up running shoes.
The Shoes are dead. Long live the Shoes
I retire mine into less stressful jobs. They go from exercise to dog walking to (summer) gardening and then, well, I can't bear to think about then. My first pair of Asics are really ready for the bin, but after 20+ years I just can't bear to do it. Soppy Moo!
I saw a pic in the Runners World letters page from someone who was similarly sentimental and had repurposed their exhausted running shoes as plant pots. Not entirely sure if I find that pleasant tbh.
I do know what you mean though. Back in ye olden days when you got stamps in your passport at immigration it always used to pain me when my passport had to be renewed. All those exotic stamps replaced by blank pages.
My father must have the National Collection of Worn Out Running Shoes. He was discovered once trying to splice two differently knackered pairs together.
So sad, but it shows just what you have done! Now, that is impressive.
Aawww I know what you mean but it does show you how far you have come (sorry no pun intended) with your running. May be we should have a gallery of beloved shoes that have passed on to remember them by
i keep mine too hard to let go enjoy your new shoes
