So many running shoes to choose from! Any advice for an affordable pair/brand for a beginner?

Simple. Ones that fit you properly and suit your running gait.

Get yourself to a "proper" running shop that offers free gait analysis and they'll sort you out.

Pricey in the short-term, but better than being injured and paying for treatment.

If there's one thing that causes running injuries more often than not, it's incorrect, worn out or ill-fitting shoes...

You might want to have a look on YouTube wet foot pronation ...It may give you an idea on your foot type ....Then go and get your gait done ...A few sports shops do this for free if you intend to buy your shoes from them ...Mind you I can only advise for dw sports as that's were I went and the wet foot test was accurate to what they told me ...May or may not work for you but worth a look ...Good luck 😊

Thanks mate I can see from all the advice I’m getting I definitely need to get my gait checked.....something I’d never even considered!
