I tried posting this as a reply in my last post a week ago but I can't see it so I will try it as a new post.
Thank you all my supportive friends, and apologies for not replying sooner to all your kind messages. It really was a boost to know so many people cared about my predicament. My energy levels are still low , so even getting online has been beyond me some days but hopefully it will get better with all the supplements, smoothies and manuka honey I am getting down me! I My first week back following the revised Couch to K plan is over and I did Week 3 Run 1 yesterday, I left two days between each run instead of one though to give me more time to recover. However, after listening to all our advice and my body I don't think I will continue at this rate. Maybe I will try Run 1 Week 4 next time but I think discretion dictates that I then complete all the rest of the runs in Laura's programme . I can't believe it is only two months since I ran 10K in 76 minutes. My current time per K is around 9.5 minutes. Fortunately my sons are very supportive of my return to action and have given me two new running vests and always give me kudos on Strava (unlike certain other people who blame all my recent illness on my obsession 'See? I told you all that running was bad for you' ;-( )
Good luck to all my fellow runners in your own tribulations. Nobody promised us an easy ride when we started this. But the struggle is worth it!

So true turnturtle. It is definitely worth it - "running bad for you" - pish tosh I say. Running is good for you and although recovery takes a while it is so worth it for just being out in the fresh air. You'll get back to your 10k soon enough as someone else said it's a way of life now so we have plenty of time to get better at it and recover from our little mishaps along the way

So glad you're back running now TT and have to say, I'm not surprised you've decided to take it very steadily. You've been through an awful experience, one that even an elite athlete would struggle to get through, so just take your time and Laura will see you through to full fitness again. I'm back at the early weeks of the programme again, after my knee troubles. I ran w4r1 on the treadmill this morning but know that I need to get back outside to really get a feel for what my fitness levels are. Perhaps we can compare notes in a weeks time and see how we're getting on. Good luck m'dear x
Well, I'm not sure elite athletes would struggle over a dose of flu, but as a mere mortal I certainly did! Yes, let's keep comparing our recoveries AM. Knees are such a nuisance, and much more limiting than merely feeling tired. I do hope your progress continues apace, If it's any comfort I had an ACL replacement about twelve years ago and if anything my knees feel better since I took up running. Or is that tempting fate?
I aim to do Week 4 run 1 tomorrow but will then play it by ear . If I do all three runs of the last five weeks it won't be the end of the world.
