Near "domestic" was worth it!!!!

Not sure if I'd already posted about the disagreement between Papa-Mia and I during the week, so apologies if I'm repeating myself. The Bambinos returned to swimming lessons this weekend which involves early starts on both Saturdays and Sundays; now this happens to be at the gym where I am a member and the fitness instructor I'm working with was working today. So, I really upset the apple cart by asking, nay demanding!, that I was today's taxi. He eventually acceded to my request, which allowed me to do week 8 run 1 today.

I was full of collywobbles first thing but Julia (FI) helped calm my nerves. I cautiously ascended the treadmill, fired up the MP3 and Laura and I were off. I took it really steady at 0.1 kph slower than Wednesday's run. It seemed odd running a bit slower than normal, but for some of the run I managed to zone out again. Before I knew it Laura was saying we only had 5 minutes left, then just one minute - did I have more in the tank? You betcha! 8.5 kph for the last minute, and I actually ran for about 30 seconds longer so I achieved a nice round figure for my running PB - 3.5 km. When I started walking again, Julia gave me a quizzical look from across the gym. So I returned it with a double thumbs up and a broad grin. She did a happy dance the length of the gym and I couldn't wipe the grin off my face for several hours! : D

You know what? I'm finally thinking that I can do this. I've got 5 runs left til I graduate! Wow :)

  • That's fantastic , well done on PB too :)

  • Thanks EJ - still a very happy Mamma!!! Next run tomorrow.

  • Congrats superstar :)

  • Thanks Runon - not sure I'm a superstar yet, but I definitely feeling like I should be in the "smug club"! Even the head of PE at school was impressed when I told her yesterday - thinks she's lining me up for the inter-house cross country race. I hated cross country at school!! :D

  • Of course you are going to do this. Great run! Well done.

  • Thanks for your confidence in me Ully. Need your positive vibes tomorrow morning for my next run :)

  • Wow indeed ! Very funny that you are fighting to take the children swimming....

  • Oh I know, it's totally hilarious :D Normally we do one weekend on and the next off, but I've insisted that we alternate the days each weekend, so I can get a run in!

  • Put boxing globes on your Christmas list honey and just keep on running xxxx

  • Not sure I can do boxercise on the treadmill .... I'll like as not go careering off the back of the flipping thing. I can normally only do one thing at once :D

Running again tomorrow, so will let you know how it goes. xxxxx

  • Well done. Not long now

  • Thanks GettingFitter - it's been a VERY long journey, but that shiny badge is so tantalisingly close now, I am going to graduate :)
