Week 7 run 2

Completed, but I found this more difficult than run 1 which is exactly the same duration. Feeling slightly deflated and now concerns about run 3 on Friday.

I guess everyone has times when it feels harder than you think it should but I really struggled for the last 7 minutes!

Anyway, onwards and upwards...Happy Wednesday everyone!

I just checked back in my diary about Week 7 runs and I put a smiley face after them and the comment that I lost weight! So don't worry. Week 7 is better than week 6 from what I remember of it, so don't get a downer on it. You'll be fine. Just set out to enjoy it. Go steady, maybe you're trying too hard

Good luck with it

We all have rubbish runs, you realise this whilst doing the programme and after you finish. Don't be disheartened too much though, these things just happen - you'll get out one day and have a fabulous run and everything will be right with the world again! :)

Keep going, and 'Happy Running'!

Don't worry, it'll be fine ... it's normal to have a tough time now and again Herbie! The more you worry the more time you waste between now and W7R3 so just try not to, it's pointless :-) Those tough 7 minutes will have made you stronger, you'll see!

In one of the podcasts Laura says that sometimes it just feels harder than other times and often there's no obvious reason. Maybe you were pushing harder than the first time. Maybe you were tired for some non running related reason, maybe it was something you ate or drank or didn't eat or drink. The important thing is that you did it ! And you will do it again next time !!

Hi Herbie - when I first "hit" week 7 earlier in the year, it very nearly became my undoing. Thanks to the support and encouragement from the guys and girls on here, I'm doing week 7 run 4 (just to prove that I can do it and my bruised ribs have healed) today.

I have always found the middle run of a week the hardest, because I know exactly what's coming! The best advice I can offer you is to take the runs slowly and steadily; remember it's a 25 minute run and not distance we're aiming for! I have also tried to "zone out" on these longer runs and let my mind wander rather than concentrating on the running.

Hope this helps - good luck for Friday; you've done the run twice now, so there's absolutely no reason why you can't do it a third time! Let us know how you get on. :)

As others have already said: Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's hard, and there isn't always a reason. The important thing is that even if you struggled, you got through it. that'll make it "easier" in the future.

Happy Weds :)

Morning Herb , worry ye not :-)

Sometimes we just have these runs , where its hard or sometimes its easier.

I always found the Run 2 of every week a bit meh , cos Run 1 is all new and exciting, and Run 3 you know its the last one of that week and that you can move on .

Its done, job completed , tick the box, move on, nothing to see here .....

You will be fine , keep calm and carry on :-) xxx

Don't worry, it's normal for some runs to seem harder than others. I ALWAYS found the 2nd of 3 runs the most difficult. I think with the first run I assumed it would be really tough and usually had a pleasant surprise that I'd survived. Second run I thought it would be ok and might have been overconfident. Third run was usually better after a "bad" second run because I thought it was going to be really tougher. It's all in the mind you see.

Having said that, sometimes we never know why one run was not quite as good as another.

Thanks to everyone for the comments - it is so heartening to read these and to take some comfort from the fact that I am not alone in how I felt earlier today!

You are all great! :)

I didn't like week 7 but since then everything seems to have just clicked into place and my body seems to cope fine as long as I stay mentally strong. Adopt a mantra. Mine is "I can totally do this....!"
