I did run 2 of week 7 today and my legs feel like concrete! Warmed up and was so determined but after about 15 mins I had to walk ☹️ Feel disappointed as really keen to complete this

Week 7 run 2 - hit a wall!
Ok so don't be feeling disappointed there abbi0106 heavy legs, it could be something as simple as not being properly hydrated, had you had plenty of water across the last two days and were you fully rested?
Thanks for the reply, really appreciate it. I ran first thing this morning as was trying to beat the rain, wonder whether I was under prepared and rushing slightly. Definitely felt my breathing was more of a struggle too....maybe just a bad run! Will definitely make sure I drink more water - am pretty good and it’s all I drink really but maybe need more now I am running.
And when you've finished drinking the water abbi0106 dynamic stretches 👍
Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress. Well done you gave it a go.
Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink a minimum of 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
I’ve got this run tomorrow 😱
Good luck - you will be great. I am going to put it down to bad run and try again on Friday! So close now I think that’s why I was so disappointed!
How was your breathing and effort level by the time you had to stop? Was it just your legs or were you actually a bit knackered?
Yea this was my run today and this was me too! I did keep going but when Sarah finally said it was the end of 25 mins I really did feel like throwing myself on the floor in a hot sweaty sweary mess and sod the 5 minutes walk 🤦♀️
It’s all a big fat learning curve isn’t it? I’m just going to put it down to experience and the first rubbish run in the 7 and a half weeks ain’t so bad is it?!
We all get days like this occasionally. Take heart, the next run will probably feel heaps better. Just love the fact you are exercising and getting out.
Abbi, you can do this, just don’t give up. The same happened to me but I just kept going the next day I tried again and now I’m running 10k three times a week.
Well done for getting as far as you have. I'm 2 runs behind you and finding it a slog now! We will succeed! 😊
Thank you all so much- you have really made me feel better. I am pleased to say I went out this afternoon and managed the run 🏃🏻♀️ yay! Legs feeling it now so going to have a day or two off before the final run of the week!
