After a complete fail at week 9 last week (ran for 15 minutes and then walked) I gave myself a full week off. This morning I set out with my daughter's phone as mine is a bit ropey. No GPS for the first 10 minutes of my run. Grrrr!
On the big plus side I did the full 30 minutes but I really wanted the accurate distance. Fudging the numbers (doubling distance from the mid point of the run) Its 3.21 miles, so 5.16 km but I really, really wanted the 'real' distance measured.
I'm finding running really tough. My lungs and my head are working hardest. I hate every step of the first 10 minutes and zone out somewhere after that. I'm always so, so happy when Laura says I can stop. I arrive home with my face pulsing with heat and absolutely done. Sometime over the next 24 hours a sick part of me starts planning the next outing. Think I'm an addict!

They sure do! Wait til you're a drowned rat running in the pouring rain and loving it! Grinning like a mad thing! You'll know then that you're hooked.
Do slow right down if your lungs are hurting. There's no need for speed! No need to worry about the distance either. So, cut yourself some slack. Rome wasn't built in a day!
This could be me talking.!! I do not enjoy the runs, but I endure them. But I think of the benefits to me health wise etc. and then I am eager to return to my run. I get a feeling of pride knowing I have done it. A sense of achievement. Carry on running x
I know what you mean about wanting to know the distance. It doesn't matter but if you like numbers it can be another little motivation. You could always use runkeeper or googleearth or something to measure it if you can remember where you went.
