Unfit to shop.

Last week i ran my furthest distance yet of 10 miles and felt exhilarated and satisfied when i had finished. I was hoping to run 11 miles this week (increase of 10%) with a target time of around 90 minutes. My OH had other plans for me though so it was off to the shops to agree on home furnishings. After 20 minutes i was totally exhausted and just wanted to sit down. When we returned home after 90 minutes i was totally spent. Although i probably had the time to go on a short run my body and mind said no there is nothing left in the tank you have used it all at the shops. How come 60 minutes of shopping with the OH is far more exhausting and really tests your fitness than running 10 miles ?

I totally understand, I can go out for a run and come home feeling wide awake and ready for more, yet I can go food shopping at the supermarket get home and just want to curl up and sleep, guess it's all about the amount of stress it causes, ask my husband and he will tell you that shoe shopping with me can take years of your life ;)

Arghhh, shoe shopping! Created by the devil! How can hubby go in a shoe shop, try on 2 pairs of shoes and walk out with them both!?!?! I go in, try on all the shoes they have in my 'size' and none of them fit properly! I've passed it down to daughter as well, shopping for school shoes, there's plenty of times we've come out of Clarks because they don't have ANY shoes in the shop that are her size! Maybe that's why I like mud and puddle running, we have wide flippers instead of proper feet!

I shouldn't be laughing at your post but... exhausted by shopping for soft furnishings, that's just brilliant. Actually I do sympathise, despite being a laydee, because it can be strangely draining. I went to Lakeside Thurrock sort of by mistake a couple of weeks ago and developed a thumping headache within 15 mins. It's not pleasant in there, not at all...

Ha! As an enthusiastic avoider of all things shopping related (except for lovely food of course) I fully sympathise.

There must be a chemical explanation (excuse)- picking out curtains never got anyone's adrenaline pumping :)

It must be a man thing. Your body closes down at the thought of cushion shopping. You're not built for it. Stick to running I can imagine my husband agreeing to go soft furnishing shopping with me. Hah! Never in a zillion years. He would glaze over and faint at the very idea. Thud

I think your right. My OH was fit enough to carry on all day yet the last serious exercise she did was when she used to dance around her handbag 40 years ago.

I live well over an hour away from any 'proper shops' and so just about everything is bought online in our house. On the very rare occasion that me and the OH get into a city we are both like over active children. It is generally a rare but very expensive outing :)
