The second 10 minute run got me. I resorted to walking and Laura says 1 more minute. Ugghhh! So close. No more evening runs in the heat. Only early morning runs from now on!
W6r2 got me: The second 10 minute run got me. I... - Couch to 5K
W6r2 got me
That evening heat can be a killer. It nearly floored me on W6 R1.
I use an app instead of the podcasts and a couple of times lately have taken to glancing at my phone to see where I am at in the run. Last night I was feeling my legs struggle along on empty glanced at my phone and saw only 2 1/2 minutes left then in my mind I kind of break it down to well in 30 seconds I will only have 2 minutes left, I can do 30 seconds.....in a minute I will only have a minute left, I can do a minute, I only have a minute left I can take the pain for a minute....
I find that method helps me to see out the end of those tough runs where I want nothing more than to slow to a walking pace.
Good luck with your second attempt at it, I am sure you will nail it on the next go.
Yep early morning for me
Fresh full of vigour and ready to go
Don't give next time you will more than make it
For some reason that run is HARD! Well done for getting so close, you did really well. This heat is making running all the harder but you pushed and did great!
One of the most difficult runs, if not the most difficult of the programme. Nice and slowly does this one.
Good luck next time
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who struggled, I attempted that yesterday turned out to be my worst run I've ever done, kept having to walk..think I'll be repeating this week. Good luck for the next run
So close! You'll definitely manage it next time so stay positive and good luck
Wow! Others think that was tough too! Just back from W6R2 and had to walk for 1 minute in the middle of the second 10. Disappointing after W5R3 but I didn't feel "ready" today and think I should've had an extra rest day. So I'll try again Sunday
I found this run so hard! I think I was caught off guard. I really thought about giving the whole thing up. However...I have run twice more since then and things are back being okay again (just done W7R1). I hope you find the same! I have been reading your posts since the beginning as we are at about the same stage!
Oh no! But put it behind you! Learn by mistakes and onward and forward xx
It's a tricky week - after all the euphoria of running 20 minutes the return to intervals trips a lot of people up. Never mind - you'll soon crack it. Keep it nice and slow.
Don't know why w6r2 is such a hard one. I found it tough too. I nearly gave in on the first 10 minutes! But I pushed on. For me the second 10 wasn't quite as bad. I'm kind of dreading the 25 min run on Friday, but if I can do 20, surely I can push through 25. Here's hoping! Good luck to you!
Thanks everyone for the kind words! Great advice all around. I will get through this!
Morning sounds like a good idea. That run is was hard! I'm sure you'll get it the next time. You were almost there. I sometimes glance at the time on Runkeeper to motivate me if I start lagging. Good luck with your next run!
I just finished this run this am. I asked my husband take care of the baby early this morning so I could go before it got hot and humid. I was tempted to walk a little the second ten but just really slowed my pace and I made it. you'll get there! I can't wait for summer to be over so I can run in the crisp autumn air lol.
I found it tough going too and was running at the same speed as my buddy who had resorted to walking. Got W6R3 tomorrow at 6a.m - VERY nervous!!
Good luck with your next one
It's not easy, but keep focussed and push on through. The 25 minuter won't be as bad as you think.
Nothing wrong with taking it slow - getting in those minutes of running is the important thing.
I'd recommend morning running - the air is fresher, no kids about (not at 6am!), fewer flies, good to see the morning birds going about their business.. and just a cracking start to the day!
