....done, but it was tough!

I've realised that my mental struggle is with running outside. I find it easier (not easy though!) to run on a treadmill, so up until now most of my runs have been in the lovely, air-conditioned gym. I think, "It's hard to run outside, so I'll just practice inside". However, it's super-boring, and ultimately I want to run outside, where I love to be, for all the wonderful things that offers.

If I want to run outside, I need to run outside! No more hiding in the gym!

So this morning I laced up and headed out, my warm-up walk taking me down to the local rec. Not the most inspiring of places to run, but it's a start! My 2 x 10 minute runs were as if through treacle. Even running at tortoise with snail thrown in, it was hard and my calf muscles felt so heavy. But I kept going and I did it.

Still red-faced and tired-legged half an hour later, yet thinking "where shall I run outside next...?"

Mind over matter - I can run outside, it's just one foot in front of the other...repeat...!

Running outside for me is the only way and from all accounts it is more difficult than running on a treadmill so you will notice a difference (at least to start with)

But the little extra effort required makes up for the boredom of the treadmill, keep on and enjoy

Brilliant, well done. Yes you can run outside, and when it get's easier you may find yourself enjoying your surroundings so much the time and km s pass much easier. :-)

And your get the benefit of topping up your vitamin D at the same time.

Well done for making the leap! You won't regret it!

It's no bad thing to have a couple of running choices, sometimes when the weather is brutal or you're feeling like you want familiarity the treadmill is brilliant, you can also try out those pesky hills and drop the gradient, if it gets too much, which you certainly can't do in real life!

I love running outside, wouldnt swap it, but when it's rhythm and consistency that's needed treadmills work for me too.

Whichever you do you're 2/3 of the way through and making fab progress. Well done
