So last week I tried week 4 but just couldn't crack that last 5 min run. Rather than being encouraged by Laura's interruption telling me I was half way through and only 21/2 mins to go, I felt despair and on run 1 and 2 slowed ( could I get much slower) to a walk for 90 secs, just mustering some energy to run for the last minute. One of my other problems is i always seem to be plagued by the need for loo stops very early on in the run and on Friday i was in Hertfordshire not Dorset and knew there were no loos on route so I decided to do the run in the garden. Sure enough after a few minutes had to return to the house but then started again, still in the garden. No, it's not a huge garden and it took many circuits to complete the sequences but I added the drive into my track and so avoided dizziness. There was a strange comfort in the familiar surroundings and counting down the number of circuits I had left to do. As the dreaded 21/2 minute warning approached I determined not to let it have a negative effect on me. Knowing the number of circuits I had left to do made it do-able and I did it!
I knew I was going to repeat the whole week but it was important for me to complete that last run to know I could, even if it was only in my garden - also managed to slow my pace right down which I'm sure helped.
So yesterday back in Dorset, after a couple of false starts for loo stops I began week 4 again and did it, not with ease but I did it. So roll on Wednesday for run 2.
