Week 4 run 1

Hi I’m new to both here and running/jogging. I have found the beginning (& the end 😉) of each week hard but I pushed through it. I was quite concerned going into week 4 but I have just managed to complete the first run. To say my shins hurt is an understatement! But I’m so pleased I did it.

When you watch others jog they seem to do it effortlessly , it’s nice reading on here that others are finding it just as hard as me.

Hi, well done for starting and getting this far. My shins started bothering me about this stage, I seem to remember.

I’ve been following the stretching recommended in the welcome post, it’s working wonderfully 👍

Good running shoes can be key too.

News to me was , calf exercises help shins! ....... or did I imagine that🤔

Good luck and keep at it👍🏃🏻‍♀️

Ps, my running doesn’t luck easy, I’m praying for the day it does😁

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run and knee strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Hi, thanks for the reply & for the link. There is some great advise on there, I will pass this onto my friend who is also doing this.

Well done, this resilience to push through when you find it hard is so boosting for our daily lives too! Take care of those shins, when I started one of the best pieces of advice I got was from Oldfloss who said to tread lightly - kiss the ground with your feet. Enjoy the programme!
