I’m on the home straight now and I cannot wait to finally see run 3 of week 9 staring at me …

Will I run 5k in the proposed time by the end ?? I highly doubt it and that fine with me as I’m only using this app to get me back running and back into a run routine ,

I’m not about speed at all with my running I’m all for endurance and distance , if I can run further then I’m a happy bunny , as pace and time is of no importance to me .

I’m a slow runner and I’m happy to be , I think saying everyone will run 5k in 30+mins is unfair as we are ALL different and it puts immense pressure on us . 5k is 5k NO MATTER WHAT TIME YOU DID IT IN.!!!!

You're absolutely right about speed/time/distance pressure.

C25K is a really misleading name for this program. It's actually a way to get you to be able to run for 30 minutes. Some people - young, fit etc can do this easily. For others it would be attainable with a bit of extra training. For many of us, me included, running 5k in 30 minutes is so far away from where I am (after 3 years) that I've long since let it go as a goal.

So for me, yes I can run 30 minutes. Yes I can run 5k or even longer at a pinch. Yes I can run for 60 minutes. Do I enjoy it? Mostly yes. Can I run at a pace of 5 minutes per km. Yeeees. For how long? About 30 seconds on a good day. Do I care that I can't do it for 30 minutes? Nope, not even, as you might say, as much as the tiniest bit of flavouring on a dry roasted peanut.

So you're in good company HAPPYPLODDER18 . Keep plodding, keep being happy, enjoy your running, that really is all that matters :)

Absolutely you’re so right . I’m just glad it’s got me back running after injury that’s all I wanted and it’s got me back into a routine which is so easy to get out of isnt it.

🍏🏃‍♀️ Couldn’t agree more! I have never run 5K in 30 mins & also don’t mind if I never do. However after 5 years post running C25K I discovered the Nike Run Club & stumbled on a training plan that involved a bit of speed running & found I enjoyed it for very short distances. It definitely helped strengthen both my legs & my ability to run longer distances… so a happy accident really 🤣

Completely agree, I am exactly on the same run as you. I'm a 76 year old plodder but loving the feeling of success after every plod. I don't care about time or speed. Just happy to be able to do it.

Wow if I’m still running at your age I’d be a happy woman . I turn 50 in a few weeks and I won’t be giving up running. Running keeps me sane . Go you your amazing. X

Well done on Week 8 Run 1!!

I'm also not at all close to 5K in 30 minutes. And I'm guessing recent gains will be lost whilst I'm on my IC. But I'm looking forward to getting back in a month or two (fingers crossed) and getting back to those consistent runs. I can make a plan then...
