I am back from trying w5r3 have had my shower and sat down with a pepsi max to contemplate how I did.

I am delighted to say that my first attempt is also my last :D another week bites the dust and for the first time I feel confident of going all the way without stopping. If I can keep on track and graduate in 3 weeks it will be on the weekend after my birthday which my wife has booked a table at Smoke in Sheffield. I am determined it will be a double celebration!

I didnt set the ground on fire with a blistering pace (until the last 15s when I started sprinting to get 3k instead of falling just shy.

Never before in my life have I been capable of running 3km outside non-stop.

Despite it being after 11 when the twenty ended I couldnt help but give a few shouts of triumph.

Bring on week 6

A very well done to you, Mr Kermit. Despite being mid-Summer it must have been almost dark when you got back from your run. Triumphal shouts are definitely in order.

Are you losing weight on the program? I was losing weight but it seems to have stalled a bit over the last 2 weeks. I'm not too worried, though, just enjoying my running (another phrase I never imagined writing!).

Thanks :)

Yeah the run was all nighttime and one section is of unlit backroads which was a little worrisome.

I started at 19st 3lb and last weighed in on monday at 18st 4lb so yeah at the moment at least the weight is steadily coming off with this and some calorie counting.

One stone already! Fantastic, and Monday you'll have lost some more. This morning my BMI was below 28 for the first time in 15 years.

Excellent work on having your lowest BMI for 15 years. A quick check online says mins is still over 30 so I have a long way to go on that front but down to 18 stone as of this morning so atleast I am heading in the right direction

Well done. Its a lovely feeling to complete the 20 mins. When you start at week one 1 minute running feels like a lifetime then suddenly a few weeks later 20 mins is done. Good luck for week 6

Yeah the best advice I can give about week 4 and 5 is that you really can do it, the program has prepared you for them even though they seem like big jumps.

Just dont let your feet stop moving, at times I have been ready to collapse by the end but if you grit your teeth and just take it one step at a time you will finish the runs

I started very over weight and never having ran but your body adapts fast. Good look on weeks 4 and 5, I think they are the ones that really teach you that the battle is in your mind and that you can do it if you just believe and be determined.

I lost Lauraon podcast when she said off you go for final 5 mins run... spent 10 mins running to see if come back so was well pleased with running 10 minutes at the end of the gruelling week 4 but to be honest loved it.....

I did W5r3 yesterday and like you I managed to complete the run. I also wanted to jump in the air and give a whoop of joy but as I finished my run outside a busy nursey I managed to refrain!!!! Good luck with week 6 - I'm having a 2week break as off on hols today but will resume the programme as soon as I get back

Well done. That's the dreaded 20 minute run out of the way and it certainly feels good doesn't it? Good luck with 6 :)

Really well done, I also completed it yesterday but it was my 2nd attempt, find it amazing that a few weeks ago I couldn't run for 1 minute now I've done 20..onwards to week 6,good luck to you.

Congratulations on getting past that hurdle! It sounds as if you are really taking to this running lark. Don't let week6 run1 trip you up... after running 20 minutes, the thought of going back to doing only 8 sounds so easy, but lots of us get knocked back by setting off too fast and then not being able to get all the way through the last interval. Laura really knows her stuff and this run could just test you. Take it slow to start, save the speed for the end - and come back and let us know so we can cheer with you all the way - only a dozen runs to go to graduation!
