I just read this article and thought I would share it, to illustrate how subversive an activity like running is viewed in some parts of the world. bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-278...

We must count ourselves lucky that our running is sponsored by an arm of the state.

Keep running, keep smiling.

My english teacher at school came to us direct from teaching in burundi and she told us all about the problems for the people there. The girls were desperate for education and we felt guilty at our own blase attitude towards it when she told us about the problems they faced on a daily basis.
