Lol, what do you mean by "an old lady?", as far as proper running shoes, go to a specialist sports shop to get a gait analysis, they will recommend to you what are the best shoes for you.

AlMorr is right - well worth it to go to a proper running shop for a gait analysis on a treadmill. Google to find a shop in your area. I ran in ordinary trainers up to Week4, but by then really needed proper shoes.

They will look at how you run (position of your foot, not speed!) and recommend suitable brands & types. If you are on a budget, just tell them & they can usually find something suitable. Good luck. 👍

Some running sandals can be incredibly good..and many folk run in them. I run in my Keens occasionally but for pleasure not on my recorded runs...

Sandals are fine but they do need to be running sandals...as the runs get longer you may find discomfort...so maybe invest in some running shoes...or some designated running sandals?

I see you have not been running for long. If you are keen on continuing, your running sandals could create problems for you. Being a mature lady myself I need as much cushioning as possible to stop any injuries and jarring. Proper analysis and shoes are worth every penny. Once you find something you really like you can always get the next pair cheaper on-line. Hope that helps - this running lark is a fairly steep learning curve - good luck

Definitely a learning mountain for me. NEVER ever in my wildest dreams did I think I would take up running 🙈
