Ready for my morning run (6K on the Aussie210K plan)...
I have now discovered (well Mrs Aussie pointed out) that I seem to have got quite obsessive over the ritual of preparation the night before now... no beers tonight for tomorrow we run...

I am impressed...confession time. I never prepare...I can't do that. sometimes at 5.30 in the morning I'm flinging knickers out of the drawer to find my running socks, and putting on wet running gear from the washing machine. I am good at organising but v v bad at planning ahead.... good luck on the run tomorrow...PS. I am aiming to go out at 6 and my stuff is still in the machine from parkrun ( oops). I am in awe +++++
That's is so admirable and funny!! - no I'm never prepared and often pay the price for forgetting juice or the garmin loses charge!! It matters now but won't do so much soon Aussie. I sense you will soon be up to 10k plus and not needing to feel the need - your personal fitness will be your reliance factor and not your preparation. Whilst saying this though... when you start your half marathons and marathons you can ignore what I have just said and do prepare!! Looking forward to those posts. Have a great run!!
Not as organised as you but like to know that everything is washed and ready for the next morning. Usually leave everything out on the landing as not to disturb mr gumpy!
Nope. I have family whose lives revolve around their running activities and I never want to be like that.
That said, I am the kind of person who will eat lunch mid-morning so I can get my run in two hours later.
Not always ... but tbh when I am pre-prepared it really helps get you up and out early
Having the kit is laid out in advance has helped me get up and get going - shades of Calvin and Hobbes bouncing down the stairs getting dressed along the way.
Mind you, my kit is currently about half of what you have.
I too, go through the kit preparation ritual the night before my run. As I am not totally obsessed yet with running, I find it stops me making an excuse to have another rest day.
I love it! There's something of the "no going back now" around getting your kit out, folding it nicely, getting the headphones, water bottle and house keys laid out on top of a neatly folded pile of breathable fabric
If I were to prepare the night before, should I put the lycra on the dog, or the dog on the lycra?
I'm a bit like Juicyju. If it was just me the kit would probably still be in the washing machine.... but I suspect hubby makes sure everyting is ready so as to duck out of taking the dog for his morning walk and have a lie-in instead!
I've reflected on this a bit more... I do have a dedicated drawer for my running underpinnings (big knickers, sports bra, sport socks) What goes on top is ordinary clothing. And I have umpteen of everything. And two pairs of running shoes (I often get them seriously covered in bog so they need a complete wash) So it is easier to grab and go (not to mention that it isn't very easy to lay anything out here as some animal will sleep on it or drag it away)
Crumbs I thought I was bad!! I just put my clothes in a heap in the bathroom the night before so I can get up and out without disturbing AncientDad and kids, but you've got so much stuff!! It's just me, clothes, shoes and iPod and a glass of water before I leave. I can see I need more stuff !!
I think I'm in serious need of more 'stuff'! I get my kit out the night before, but so far it only consists of trainers, socks, underwear, capris, tshirt & phone. I find if my stuff is ready to put on then there are no excuses for not going out and running straightaway.
