Now completed run 2 week 1. Proud is the word at the moment. Any tips to find best running route areas?

Depends on where you are, the terrain and where you want to run. Flat is usually good when starting out.

I started my route on a pavement alongside a 'very' long stretch of road so that when im running longer distance i can still run the same route.

I have stuck to local street roads at the moment. When I gain a bit more confidence/fitness I will look to go along local seafront.

When i started i just bomb blasted out to all points of the compass for the 1st half of the work outs and then back again . that way i found i could link them up to make a 3k route that wouldnt bore me and reverse them if need be

Just go, where you fancy... if you can find a bit of flat at this early stage, then do so...:)

I, like many of us, have loads of inclines!!! They become part of your runs and are so good for us ( That's what they tell us anyway...embrace the hills!)

I am by the coast now and just about to head out along the sea front and back along the beach...a bit late for me, but so looking forward to it:)

Then.. as the runs get longer..find in and out routes, ones that move you forward, slowly and steadily... familiarity with a route, at the beginning, can help whilst you are trying to follow your new running plan... there is so much going on with your head and body...but as you move on, changing your route can be helpful too, for keeping motivation going and honing up your running style a tad :)

As for confidence... just go for it..

I walk a dog a lot so find many routes that way. I use Goodrunguide for plotting runs 🙂 It has the off-roads and footpaths on its maps. You are represented by a running man so you can see where you are on the route on screen and can toggle between satellite and footpath mode, which is useful. Zoom in for a better look. You can do all that on the computer before leaving the house. It tells you how far as well. I liked it so much that I subscribed. You can use it without mind you. You can log all your runs on it too, and everything else. It has a race database on it, and lists the best run routes,,e.g. Gold, silver and bronze so,you can organise some running tourism if you wish.
